Lunch
3rd POV
The young royal couple and the two older brothers of the crown princess were having lunch with Teika, the crown prince's aide. (y/n) watched as Ai was having a nice chat with Reiji and Camus as he was discussing about the wedding with Teika. Suddenly, knocks on the door was heard as (y/n) decided to crack open the door and saw a maid with a slightly panicked look. He asked what was going on when she mentioned that a trespasser waltzed into the garden to find Ai. The others at the table were shocked as Camus was comforting the crown princess who was about to have a mental breakdown. (y/n) was worried about Ai as he was about to tell the maid to call the guards to guard his bedroom when they heard a familiar voice. He then told the maid to come inside which she nodded and walked over to comfort Ai. Ai was shaking a lot that her legs gave out and fell down which shocked her two older brothers. (y/n) and Teika were near the door waiting for the trespasser to barge in which they did and turned out to be the middle stepbrother, Ranmaru.
(y/n): Sir Ranmaru! You know it's bad to trespass on royal grounds!
Teika: ...... *hovered his hand over his sword*
Ranmaru: Please, I just want to talk to Ai!
Ai:*slowly turned her head* Let him talk
Camus: Ai, my dear sister, it's very important to know that we have your back if anything happens
Reiji: Yeah!
Ai: Then *looks at Ranmaru* Say what you want to say right here right now
Ranmaru: But I wanted this conversation to be private
(y/n): You...!
Ai: Sure, but only if (y/n) was present
Ranmaru: Fine
(y/n) sighed as he told the maid to take Teika, and Ai's other brothers to the room next to them which she nodded and gestured the three gentlemen to follow her. Both Camus and Reiji were very worried about Ai, but had no choice but to leave the room. Once the gentlemen left, Ranmaru sat down on one of the couches while Ai and (y/n) sat on the other couch. Dense silence emitted the room as Ai started to shake a bit from fear as (y/n) looked over at the middle stepbrother and told him what he wanted to say to his stepsister. Ranmaru let out a sigh and started off by how mad he was at (y/n) for "kidnapping" Ai in the middle of the night. (y/n) was surprised at the accusation but Ai retorted back, saying that Ranmaru has been bullying her for most of her childhood and the fact that she told the crown prince about her home life and him. The silver-haired stepbrother scoffed at the cyan-haired princess's comment as he moved on to the incident.
Ranmaru: I want to apologize for the way I acted back then especially the incident. After I was taken to the dungeon, I thought that... my life is over when I assaulted you. But then I guess that crown prince himself does not want you to feel guilty about me being arrested or something, so he decided to let me go. But he ordered our father to send me away to a port city where his friend lives and work for him instead
Ai: *still shaking* Yes, I know......Father told me when he came to visit me during my recovery period
Ranmaru: *nods and looks at (y/n)* I apologize for my actions too, your highness
(y/n): You came at an unexpected time, but I do appreciate your apology. I'm also doing this for Ai's sake too
*sat in silence*
Ranmaru: Ai... I'm sorry that I hurt you. I...... hate the fact you came to our lives and took all of the attention when we were young...
Ai: W-w-what?
Ranmaru: It's true at first but both Reiji and Camus started to pay attention to you, leaving me alone. And I started to resent you and did what I did...
Ai: T...then, why didn't you just kill me then?! If you hated me that much, you should just kill me there when you assaulted me!
Ranmaru: W-what......! But I—
(y/n): Ranmaru, I think it's best to leave for now
Ai: *started sobbing quietly*
Ranmaru: *regretted what he said as he quietly left the room*
After Ranmaru left, (y/n) started to comfort Ai who was sobbing and shaking. She can't help but cry as Reiji, Camus and Teika walked back in to see the two. (y/n) looked up and told the two stepbrothers to comfort their sister while he got chatted with his aide. Reiji ran over to hug his dear sister as Camus took the handkerchief from (y/n) who offered his to wipe the flowing tears off Ai's face. The crown prince approached his aide who asked what happened which he told him about what happened in the room. Teika was stunned at what the middle stepbrother said which made (y/n) sighed and told him to come with him. Teika nodded as the two leave the other three in the room while they went to get something. After a few minutes, Mocha was in the crown prince's arms as both (y/n) and Teika were back to the room to see that Ai was sound asleep from all the crying. The crown prince set the cat on his bed as he slowly walked over to where Ai was and gently scooped her into his arms and walked over to the bed. He took out her heels after he set her down and covered her with the blanket which Mocha saw and went up to cuddle with Ai. Ai smiled a bit as she hugged the cat which made (y/n) smiled a bit before walking over to the two stepbrothers
Reiji: Your aide told us what Ran-Ran said to Ai-Ai
(y/n): *nods* I'm not sure if she wanted your brother to come to the ceremony after what just happened earlier
Camus: We'll talk to him when we get back home
(y/n): I see...... *looks at the sky*
Camus: While Ai is resting, should we continue chatting?
Reiji: That's a good idea
Teika: I'll go get a maid to refill the tea
(y/n): Thanks *turned to took a quick glance at the sleeping princess*
