Sorting Ceremony

"What's your name?, I am y/n", I said, the boy looked up at me, "I am Daniel, Daniel Page", he replied. I nodded and after quickly flashing a small smile at him, I went closer to the girl from Ollivanders. "Hi! you are the girl from Ollivanders aren't you" said to her. She nodded. "Yup! sorry I was in a hurry when we last met, by the way, I am Ivy Warrington", she said and held her hand out for me to shake. I shook her hand and introduced myself, "I am y/n, nice to meet you Ivy", I said and we both sat down. We talked throughout the train journey, and she told me that the kids I had seen before were also first years at Hogwarts. And she even told me that there were four houses at Hogwarts, each of us would be sorted into. 

As approached Hogwarts, Ivy went to change into her school robes, I didn't have to as I was already wearing them. I said that I would wait, but she had spent a lot of time in the washroom and we had already arrived at Hogwarts. Everyone was getting off the train and I saw Ivy rushing towards me and picking up her suitcase. "Sorry I took so long", she said, I said it was fine and we both got off the train. 

I immediately saw Hagrid showing the students the way. As he saw he smiled and both Ivy and I walked to where Hagrid was standing. "I see ye already found a friend y/n", he smiled at both of us, showed us the way and followed close behind as we were the only students left. But, when we got there we only saw boats, which students were sitting and talking among themselves. "Ye will reach to Hogwarts when we cross the black lake", he said and we both looked for a boost to sit, as the one Hagrid sat in was already filled up. I saw Daniel sitting in a boat, alone again. 

I grabbed Ivy's hand and led her to Daniel's boat. "Hey Daniel? fin if we sit here? all the other bost are filled up", I asked him. He thought for a while before he nodded. Ivy looked at me and quietly asked, "Do you know him?", I nodded and we both sat down. I sat next to Ivy and both sat across Daniel, facing him. 

And the boats finally moved, but no one was rowing them. The boats were moving by themselves, I was amazed, I think Daniel seemed to notice, because he asked, "Y/n umm don't mind me but I just wanted to know if you come from a Muggle family?". I nodded. "Oh, My big sister is also a muggle", he said, I nodded. But Ivy was confused, "So you too come from a muggle family?", she Daniel. "No, My mother is a witch, but my father, my big brother and my big sister are muggles..", he said. And we three kept talking and got to know more about each other. 

And after a few minutes, we reached Hogwarts. We got off and I looked around. It was so beautiful, it was magnificent, it was...I don't have enough words to compliment its beauty. And as I was mesmerised by the beauty of Hogwarts, I didn't even notice Daniel calling out my name. "y/n!..y/n!!", I turned around and saw Daniel. "Come on or else we will get separated..", he continued to walk with me following him close behind him. After walking a little I noticed that Ivy wasn't with us anymore. And I looked around to find her but couldn't. 

"What happened y/n?", Daniel asked me with concerned eyes. "I don't see Ivy...", I said and again looked around to find her but she was nowhere to be seen. "It's ok..maybe she went up ahead, maybe she was just too excited for the sorting...". "Hmm probably...if you say so". And we went up ahead and reached to the entrance of the Great Hall. "Woah.. it's so beautiful...", I said looking around. "Wait till you see the inside.." Daniel said to me and walked forward. I followed him close behind. 

And Daniel was right, the ceiling of the great hall was so beautiful...it had candles hanging from the ceiling but without any rope or anything.... okay maybe I was too distracted complimenting each and everything about Hogwarts I didn't even notice Daniel and the other students starting to form a line. I rushed to Daniel and stood next to him, "Hey why did you leave me there?", I elbowed him lightly, and he rolled his eyes at me, "You were just too distracted and didn't even hear me calling your name". 

But we all got quiet as a witch with a pointed black hat and green, gold and black robes walked up to the platform to give a speech. "That's Headmistress McGonagall", Daniel whispered to me. And a few seconds later she began to give her speech. "Welcome to Hogwarts, when I first became Headmistress barely four months had passed since the battle of Hogwarts, Voldemort and his followers were defeated, thanks to the combined efforts of many heroic witches and wizards, forest dwellers and house elves, and students much like yourselves. Hopefully, none of you faces such dangers but should challenges arise, you that together you are capable of more than you might think. Now, to those who are feeling overwhelmed by the occasion, remember that even Harry Potter stood where you do...", and suddenly some shadows cast over some professors sitting in the row on the platform and over the stool that stood in the middle of the platform. " I know that you are all starving, but first we must see to the sorting of our newest students into their houses. This is very important. As your house will be akin to your family while you are at Hogwarts. They will share your triumphs and your failures. Is everyone ready?.. Ok from a line". 

After that, the sorting began properly. A few students were already done, Daniel and Ivy both had told a lot of the about the houses. There were Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. After a few students were done, Daniel's turn came, I looked at him," Go on Daniel, you can do this". He exhaled, nodded and courageously sat on that stool. The Headmistress placed the hat on his head. It seemed like the hat was talking to him. And suddenly the hat shouted, "Slytherin!!", we all clapped. I saw Daniel smiling and walking to the Slytherin table, where people were congratulating him. 

After a few minutes, it was finally my turn. I was nervous and calmed myself down and went up the stage. I slowly sat on the stool and the Headmistress put the hat on top of my head. As soon as the hat touched the top of my head, it started to speak, "Hmmm... where shall I put you...hmm let's see...desire, cunning and certain moral of flexibility...Slytherin could just be the place for you...if you are sure of course", I thought for a moment and I agree with the sorting hat. As it could be that the hat read my thought the sorting hat again shouted, "Slytherin!!". Everybody clapped, I got the stool rushed to the Slytherin table and sat next to Daniel. 

"Congratulations on making it in Slytherin", he said. After a few minutes, we heard the Headmistress call out Ivy's. Both Daniel and I had been so nervous that we forgot about Ivy. As the Headmistress called her name, I expected her to run up to the platform, but she wasn't even there. The Headmistress called her name again and everybody looked around and whispered to each. I looked at Daniel, "What happened to Ivy?!", I was worried about her because she was the first friend I made after coming here. "Ivy? Does anyone know what happened to Ivy?". The Headmistress looked around to see if anyone responded, but no one did. "I see, Hagrid?", the headmistress called Hagrid and he came immediately, "Yes Headmistress?", He said. "I believe a search party is in order. It appears that we have lost a student". 

After the feast, the prefects of houses led us to each of our common rooms. The Slytherin common room was in the dungeons. I went up to my dorm guided by a third-year girl. I found out that I was sharing rooms with three other girls one of them Ivy. I was happy that she was my roommate but I was also worried about her. "I can't believe that Ivy has gone missing", I was thinking to myself. I planned to look for her myself if the professors couldn't. I decided to talk to Daniel about my plan tomorrow. I was exhausted and went straight to bed.
