Nobara answers the phone call.

"Nobara?" Michiko held her phone up to her ear when her childhood friend finally answered her call. "I've been trying to reach you all day. Why weren't you answering my calls?"

"Chill out, Mimi! I went shopping with Maki today and accidentally left my phone at home." Nobara defended herself, even getting Maki, who was next to her, to confirm it. "We only just got back to our apartment."

Michiko sighed, "It's fine, I just need to talk to you about something. It's important."

"I can see that..." It sounded like Nobara turned her head away from the phone. "Maki, look at how many times she called me!" It was clear to Michiko that Nobara was scrolling through all the missed call notifications.

"Nobara, please."

"Okay, sorry. What is it?"

"I got a job in Tokyo."

There was a moment of silence before the sound of excited screams nearly blew out Michiko's eardrums. She pulled the phone away from her face, but could still hear the faint noise of Nobara through the phone.

"This is so exciting! You're moving to Tokyo!"

Michiko hesitantly put the phone against her ear again as she responded. "Yeah, I guess I am!"

The two of them, along with Fumi, grew up together after becoming friends at school. They would all go to Saori's home as kids before she left, but of course Nobara was the most attached to her. When Nobara moved to Tokyo for highschool, Michiko and Fumi stayed in their hometown. They all still kept in touch, calling each other frequently to update each other on their own lives.

"Did you tell Fumi yet?"

"Yes, I have! I felt bad for leaving, but she assured me that she would be fine here on her own." Michiko smiled. She thought about how calm Fumi's reaction was compared to Nobara.

"Do you think she'll ever want to move here too?" Nobara questioned with muffled noises on the mic as she rolled into bed.

"She seems pretty content here and I don't really see her liking the big city."

"You're right...Ugh, it would've been so cool if we were all together again. Maybe we could even find Saori..."

Michiko chuckled. "I'm convinced she doesn't even live in Tokyo anymore."

"Shut up!"

The two then had a long conversation on the phone, reminiscing about their childhood and laughing about all fun memories they shared in their youth. Michiko almost forgot the other important thing she needed to tell Nobara.

"Oh, right. I need to tell you something else."

"Hm? What is it?"

"Well, I don't really know where I'm gonna stay when I'm in Tokyo and I was hoping that I could somehow stay with you for a bit to save money?" She was unsure asking this, but was still hopeful.

"I'm sorry, Mimi, but I don't think that's the best idea. I'm already rooming with Maki and there's not really a guest bedroom."

"I can sleep on the couch or something! Please, I'm desperate. I can't afford my own apartment."

Nobara paused for a moment to think. "Wait! My friend, Fushiguro, lives next door and doesn't have a roommate!"

Michiko never heard her ever talk about a "Fushiguro" before, so she was a little stunned at the idea. "Are you sure? I don't even know this person..."

"It's fine! Here, I'll get Fushiguro to take photos of the apartment later so I can send them to you."

"I'm still not sure-"

"We could be neighbors! I have a bunch of school friends who live in this same apartment complex too. I'm sure they'd be happy to meet you!" Nobara was excited to invite her childhood friend into her Tokyo friend group.

"From school? You all just decided to live near each other?

"Well, Maki and I moved into our apartment first and then everyone just followed us here. They're all annoying pricks for not leaving us alone, but it's nice that I can yell at them through the walls when they don't respond to my messages."

Michiko laughed at the short story. "That's nice and all, but I'm still not sure if I can be roommates with your friend. I already told you I can't afford it."

"Don't worry about that! I'll figure something out, so when are you coming to Tokyo?"

"Two days. My first day of work is on Monday."

"Great! I'll send you the pics soon and I'll meet you at the train station. Bye, Mimi!"

"Wait, Nobara-!"

Nobara ended the phone call.
