He had no idea he had let so many perish.
That night, there were many burial shrouds lined up to be burnt, a colourful array of gloom. Among the dead, Lee Fletcher had been downed by a giant's club. He was wrapped in a golden shroud without any decoration. Castor had been killed fighting an enemy half-blood and was wrapped in a deep purple shroud embroidered with grapevines. He was seventeen years old.His twin brother, Pollux, tried to say a few words, but he choked up and just took the torch. He lit the funeral pyre in the middle of the amphitheatre, and within seconds the row of shrouds was engulfed in fire, sending smoke and sparks up to the stars. The same stars Zoe Nightshade ran through.
The following day was filled with tending to the wounded. (Y/N) attempted on several occasions to utilise the Rod of Asclepius, but to no avail. He made do though with the alternatives, ambrosia the old reliable. The satyrs and dryads worked to repair the damage to the woods.
One particular patient though was challenging to say the least. Dabbing cuts and bruises with sterile wipes and trying to keep the skull shirt salvageable.
"So, are we good?" croaked the son of Hades.
"Yes, modicum osseus. Don't feel bad, just as your sister said, the fatal flaw of children of Hades' is your inability to let go. Don't let it rule you."
"What's your fatal flaw? Or like, what hamartia do children of Asclepius have?"
He sighed and put down the scissors in his hand.
"My father had me first , then fathered seven immortals. Five daughters and two sons. Unfortunately, as the only mortal I'm somehow the oldest. But anyway, I get side tracked."
He coughed into a rag, hopefully not the same one he'd already used on Nico and Annabeth.
"I'm the only demi-god child Asclepius had ever had. So I guess... my flaws are all his and my mothers flaws. I can be tempered and wild, but overall I'd say my flaw, the same for him, is that I don't act fast enough. There is, and thanks to his new god wife, will never be another sibling to compare myself to though."
Nico sat up on the table and fiddled with his hands.
"Does it get lonely? Being an only child?"
Yes.
"No, not at all. If you find the right people, right places, it can all turn out wonderful. It can be difficult, and it can be dangerous at times, but there's always a pay off."
There was no wonder to this experience.
Nico smiled, a ghostly smile, but a smile none the less.
"But for now, you need to lie back down so I can do what a child of Asclepius does best."
At noon, the Council of Cloven Elders held an emergency meeting in their sacred grove. The three senior satyrs were there, along with Chiron, who was in wheelchair form. His broken horse leg was still mending as the old horse-man constantly turned away the son of Asclepius' aid, claiming others needed it more, so he would be confined to the chair for a few months. The grove was filled with satyrs and dryads and naiads up from the water—hundreds of them, anxious to hear what would happen.Juniper, Annabeth, and Percy stood by Grover's side. (Y/N) sat cross legged next to his uncle, stroking a little bird on his lap. It quietly sung a happy song.
Unfortunately, everyone else was busy trying to condemn Grover. Silenus wanted to exile the satyr immediately, but Chiron persuaded him to at least hear evidence first, so they all told the gathering what had happened in the crystal cavern, and what Pan had said. Then several eyewitnesses from the battle described the weird sound Grover had made, which drove the Titan's army back underground.
