"Do you get it?"
"No."
"Oh come on, how can you not get it? I've been explaining it for the last 30 minutes!" Kate slumps back in her chair in disbelief.
"I'm sorry, Kate. I've just been distracted lately." I nervously play with my fingers under the table.
"..No I get it, I've been distracted too. He's one of my best friends, you know?" She takes a breath. "Can't believe something like this would happen to him"
When Carter woke up in the hospital, he hadn't remembered what happened. So I told him that he got jumped as we were walking down the street. I also took his expensive watch to make the reason why he got jumped perfectly clear.
That was two weeks ago, and he's still in the hospital.
"Yeah.. But he's okay now, so that's the positive part I guess." Even though she tries her best to hide it, deep down I know that Kate cares for him. A lot.
Right as she's about to answer me, my phone rings, interrupting her words. I pick it out of my pocket, growing a little confused when I see it's an unknown number.
I put my phone to my ear anyway, answering with a simple "Hello?"
"Lily. Are you available right now? It's important." My heart skips a beat at the sound of Valerio's voice coming through the phone, he and I talk like- never.
I sit up, ignoring Kate's puzzled expression, and walk out of the café for some privacy.
"Yeah.. what's up?"
"It's Amara, she's coming home."

When Valerio told me he sent someone to pick me up, I wasn't expecting that someone to be his evil twin.
Awkwardly, I get into the car, avoiding any eye contact. Enzo does the same, not giving me a single glance before driving off. Eventually the silence becomes too much for my soul.
Don't say it. "So how's married life? Got any kids coming? You know- Since you guys obviously don't like waiting around" I said it.
"We're not married yet-"
"Why would you do that to me?" I change the subject in a snap, almost catching myself off guard.
"I didn't have a choice." He says, making a turn.
I clench my jaw, "that's bullshit. I know damn well you had a choice."
"I'm not choosing you over my generations empire, I'd loose everything I own, Lily. and so would Valerio." His hand tightens around the steering wheel, staring so intensely at the road I thinking the glass might break.
