An: to order in the story. Maya and Carina have been married for a few weeks Covid has let up and the borders opened again. Carina got the news that her father tryed to kill himself so she flew over to Italy.
Maya is sad to be alone and hates the long distance and not knowing how long Carina will be out.

"Bishop, what kind of superhero crap was that?" Beckett yelled. Maya held a piece of gauze to her face and winced "I'm... fas..t i..thought i could... ma..ke ..it." Maya said through bouts of coughing. Her ear was ringing, her chest felt tight and she was so tired. Vic strapped an Oxygen mask to Mayas face and motioned for her to breathe slowly. Maya followed. "It was reckless and stupid." Beckett said and walked away. "No but seriously, Mai. He is right. You could have gotten hurt so much worse." "I ...know I'....m so...rry." Maya said still coughing. "Lets take you to the hospital." Maya rolled her eyes.

"Okay. Bishop your lungs are very irritated. I prescribed you an inhaler use it twice a day and it will help you cough up all the gunk from your lungs." "Okay." "And no active duty for three weeks. I'm telling you. If you exercise with this you will get pneumonia. And don't get your stitches wet." "Okay. I got it." Maya nodded not looking at Teddy." This is for eardrops. Your eardrum is ruptured again. Try not to get water in and use these three times a day. You do not want an infection on top, because then you could permanently loose your hearing" Maya nodded. "Bishop." Becketts voice barreled through the hospital ER. "What?" Maya said, Beckett stood on the side of her bad ear so she had trouble understanding him. "You are off shift as of right now. You worked three extra shift this week, you went over your max and you didn't listen to my orders. I don't want to see you until monday at the very least." She understood enough to know she'd messed up. "Got it, Captain." "Go home."

Maya sat in bed. Laying down made her cough and was already so sore from coughing. It was the middle of the night. She checked the clock and figured she could call Carina since it was noon at hers. They had texted earlier and Maya had told her about the accident at work, but she really wanted to see Carina. She opened her phone tapped the call button.

"Bambina, hey." Carina hadn't switched her camera on. "Hey. I can't sleep, i wanted to see your face." "Sorry. I'm...i" Carina sounded like she had just cryed. "Are you crying, my Love?" "No." But it was very clear that Carina was. "Its okay. Why don't you have your camera on?" "I..." "Honey, whats going on?". Carina sighed shakily. She switched the camera on and Maya gasped. "What happend?" Carina sported a really bad black eye and the cheak on the other side was bruised too. "I hit a kitchen cabinet. My father slaped me and i hit the kitchen cabinet." She said and started crying again. She placed the icepack back on her face and took a few deep breaths. "And crying really hurts." "Oh, my love. I'm so sorry." Maya wanted to kill the man. She knew he was not well. That was the reason Carina was in Italy. Carinas aunt Stella had called and told her Vincenzo had tryed to kill himself. He hadn't succeded and that they couldn't get him to go into a facility. Carina had come to help get him to take help, but she had also not been succesfull yet.

"Did you get it checked out? I can't see it very well, but your eye looks horrible." "Gabriella checked it out and she also forbid me from going back to his house alone." "Good. Good. Please listen to her. I don't really want you to go back there ever. Just come home. Please." "I want to, but i can't. I don't want to leave and then get the message that he ....tryed... That he succeded. It would be my fault then." "No. It wouldn't. But i know me saying that doesn't help. How can i help?" "Don't get hurt again. I was worried sick when you texted me today." "Well i will not until Monday. I am off shift and then i'm on desk duty." "You hate desk duty." "I do. But i also don't want to get Pneumonia." "Smart girl." Carina teased and smiled, but then winced. Maya winced, too. Seeing her girlfriend in pain was hard.

They talked for a little longer and then Carina hung up to let Maya get at least a little sleep.

But Maya didn't sleep. She opened her phone and put in PTO then she looked for what she needed to go to Italy.
