There for me 4(A KOTLC SOKEEFE STORY)

It was interesting coming home because the air was so thick and I was pretty out of the loop. When Aj and I got here, my parents were talking quietly in the kitchen and they stopped when they noticed we were there. Ace didn't come out of his room until dad went to get him for dinner. Adam was here which was so weird because last I remember, Ace and Ada, were fighting, and clearly they still were if we're considering the awkward silence and tension at the table. 

"So...how are you Adam? Haven't seen much of you the past few days," Aj chimes in. 

"I'm doing okay. You?" Adam replies quickly, eyes on his food.

"I'm good, thanks." The table is silent through the rest of dinner. My parents tell us to go hang out for a bit while they clean up the dishes and none of us complain. Ace starts to go up to his room but I stop him.

"Ace come sit with us or I'm going to make out with Aj in front of you on purpose!" I call after him. I see Aj blushing beside me, what a cutie. We're sat in a circle and I made sure the only space left was for Ace to sit beside Adam. He notices and hesitates, but sits down. 

"So, should we play a game? Maybe do some prank calls or something?" I suggest. There's a beat of silence so I look to Aj.

"I think the prank call idea should be funny?" He says back shyly. 

"Okay perfect." I switch my imparter onto the anonymous mode we made my dad add for exactly this purpose. Man I love having a technopath for a dad it's so fun. We dial some random number.

"Hello?" The voice questions.

"Hello there! I'm calling to inform you that the council has chosen you to be a new Emissary! You start tomorrow! Any questions?" I say in a high pitched and chirpy accent. 

"I'm sorry, I don't remember applying for this position. How exactly did I receive this job?" The voice, seemingly female, asks.

"Well, ma'am, you got this job because the council thinks you are extremely talented. Your point of contact is councillor Alina. You should meet her tomorrow at her castle for further information! If you have any additional questions feel free to ask her. Tomorrow, her castle, 12pm. Make sure to knock very loudly as she will likely be asleep. What a forgetful lady. Congratulations!" I exclaim. 

"Thank you so much! I'll certainly be there! Have a good day!" The lady ends the call. I turn to the boys who are holding back their laughter.

"And that, is how it's done. Now tomorrow we go by the councillors castles, hide, and watch this go down. Should be funny." I smile proudly as they all burst into fits of laughter. Ace is lightly chuckling but hey, a win is a win. We hang out a little more and I notice Ace and Adam losing some tension. Good that was my goal. I hear the front door open and my mom rush to get it.

"Sophie! Keefe! Come in come in!" I hear my mom greet.

"Hey B! Is Aj here?" I hear my aunt say. 

"Aj! Your parents are here sweatheart!" My mom calls. Sophie and Keefe walk into the room, definitely a little shocked at the scene of Adam being here. I assume my mother has filled them in on whatever is going on. We exchange hellos and hugs and they rush off to the kitchen to hang out with my parents and do whatever it is adults do.

"I have a new fun activity!" I proclaim. The guys look at me expectantly. 

"We should totally evesdrop on them," I whisper. The exchange looks and Aj shrugs in agreement. We get up quietly and hide behind the wall silently. 

"Listen B, I knew we thought we got rid of them but I swear I saw her. Almost unmistakeable," I hear Sophie say.

"Did you tell Forkle yet? The possibility of it being her is so low. We wiped them out..." My mom replies.

"I haven't told him anything yet, no. Keefe thought we should do a little stakeout. Me and Fitz will go, it's safest. We haven't told anybody else about it yet other than Fitz. I spoke to him last night and he agrees that we should check before saying anything to Forkle," Sophie adds. 

"Assuming he doesn't already know," My dad pitches in.

"Right. Forkle has cameras everywhere. I know my mother and she wouldn't risk coming out of hiding. The chances of it being her...it's impossible. Even the chances of it being Camryn are slim to none. My mom cares about one thing, herself, and she wouldn't chance getting caught again," Keefe says.

"Oh my god they're talking about Gisela," Aj whispers. I look at him and he's super pale. I mean, we all know the story of the rebel group our parents defeated, and how Aj's grandmother and aunt were part of it. 

"I think this is a good plan for now. When were you thinking of going with Fitz?" My dad says. 

"Tomorrow morning. We figure it's the best time. We'll keep a connection open with you guys for backup so just be ready. I thought this was over, but it's never really going to be over, is it?" Sophie sighs tiredly. 

"I know Soph. Even if it's her, we got rid of her once and we can do it again," My mom reassures her. We go back to our seats in the living room as their conversation switches topics. I wrap my arms around Aj because I know he won't let how much this is affecting him show. He closes his eyes and buries his head in my shoulder. I see Ace and Adam looking concerned so I lightly shake my head to signal that he'll be okay. Ace gets up, probably to go to his room. Adam hangs around for a beat looking unsure. I catch his eye and mouth "go" to him, and he runs after Ace. 

I kiss Aj on the head and he looks up at me. 

"I want to get some sleep I think. Is it early still?" He asks. I check the time.

"Already 9:30. Are you staying here or going home with your parents?" 

"I think I'll stay. Should I go ask?" He responds. I nod and we get up to go to the kitchen.

"Hey sweetheart what's up?" Sophie asks upon seeing us. 

"I'm really tired. Is it okay if I stay here tonight?" Aj asks. his dad smirks and Sophie slaps him.

"Yes of course! Just make sure you get to school on time tomorrow okay? I love you," Sophie replies, kissing Aj's cheek. We head up stairs and take turns showering and changing. I climb into bed and wait for Aj to be done. I feel him slide in beside me and settle down.

"Goodnight Jenny, I love you," he mumbles.

"Night Aj, I love you too." I wrap my arm around him and I drift off into sleep.
