Your pov:

Leaning against the doorway of the royal library in the castle, you were lost in your thoughts as you skimmed through all the option of books to choose from. You had been avoiding your mother the entire day, simply because you were not in the mood to be chastised about finding yourself a potential suitor that evening, to run the kingdom with you.

The castle was eerily silent, except for the ocassional murmurs of the maids who cleaned and busied themselves with the chores that your mother instructed them to do. You walked through the dark room, scanning the names of the books before deciding on one about your typical romance. It looked interesting. Something about a forbidden love scheme.

"Y/n." You turned around swiftly, dropping the book in process once Moira, the head maid who was like an older sister to you, called your name.
"Gosh you scared me." She chuckles before picking the book up for you and handing it to you. You give her a small smile which she returns.
"What's the matter? Is everything alright?"
"Yes everything is fine, although your mother wants you upstairs right this moment." A groan fell from your lips, knowing what your dear mother had in store for you.

"Come on, if we keep her waiting, she'll just chop my head off." You laugh at her remark as you both walk out of the castle's library, towards your chambers.
"Oh come on, lighten up. Maybe this time you'll have a red or maybe a purple ball gown." Moira exclaims and you snicker.
"I can only wish. You know my mother thinks that red and purple is the colour that whores wear."
"A lady must always wear colors that show her submission towards her husband." Moira repeats the words, that were engraved in both of your heads, to you with a humorous laugh. "It doesn't even make any sense. I mean it's always blue, pink, yellow." You mumble and she laughs.

Reaching your chambers, she gives you a small smile before opening the door to reveal your mother pacing around your room.
"There you are. Come on, we need to begin the fitting of your dress and your hair, christ what are we going to do with this monstrosity." Her fingers pull the strands of hair while examining it.

"Thank you mother." You scoff and she only glares at your sarcastic tone.
"Sit." She points to the chair in front of you and you begrudgingly sit down. A hum falls past her lips as she ushers Moira to bring in your stylist.
"Have you been shaving? And your nails, I told you to cut them last week. Why do you always have to be this sloppy. And sit up y/n, a lady doesn't slouch. You won't get a husband, if you keep behaving like this."

You clench your jaw while looking away from the stern glare your mother gave you. One would think that she would treat her only daughter like a mother should be treating her daughter, especially because you were the first and the last for the family. Years ago, she was told that she was barren and that she would never be able to conceive a child but fortunately for her, she was graced with a miracle. You.

The kingdom was happy to hear the news of her pregnancy and so was she but after you were born, well she had a sort of disdain towards you. It was as if she envied you, your purity, your kindness and your beauty. You were deemed one of the most beautiful princesses with a very pure heart and a beautiful smile that could capture and tug the strings of anyone's heart.
