The amount of thought both Effy and Rosie are putting into their outfits for tonight's party is kind of ridiculous.

Effy even mentioned wearing her Grizzly's jersey to the party, but I shut her out immediately. I don't understand why she's acting so starstruck. She has literally met almost all the guys already.

Rosie, on the other hand, is only going to piss off Logan, and I know it. They apparently got in a fight recently, and Logan is evidently fuming about the idea of Rosie partying with a bunch of hockey players. Just kiss already.

I threw on a lacy lavender mini dress I have, put a decent effort into my make-up, and curled my hair. But unlike my sisters, I'm all ready to go while they're still deciding what to wear. So, I go downstairs and wait for them to be ready.

Downstairs my dad is sitting on the couch, all dressed up to go out. I have no idea where he's going, but I'm really glad he's doing something instead of staying here alone.

He wasn't too happy about the idea of us going to a party with his players, and I'm pretty sure Fuller is now on his persona-non-grata list, but Effy managed to persuade him—she always does.

"Hi, Dad," I greet him, walking into the living room to sit next to him on the couch.

"Hi, Kitty Kat. You look beautiful," He gives me a genuine smile, but I think he promptly remembers where I'm going dressed like this, and his soft expression becomes a scowl. "Don't let any of those idiots woo you with their athlete charm. I know them all, and none of them are worth it.

I just laugh. "You're so mean to your players, dad. I'm pretty sure you like them more than you let yourself admit you do."

"At least I don't have to worry about any of you entertaining them since all three of you are spoken for." My dad crosses his arms sinking further into the couch, staring at me with a sneaky expression.

"Rosie isn't spoken for?" I speak confused.

Wait. Did I just admit I'm spoken for?

"Are you sure?" My dad arches a brow and immediately the front door opens, and an extremely well-dressed blonde man walks through the door. It's Logan.

"Hello, Mr. Hartley." Logan approaches the couch and shakes my dad's hand.

The gleam in the old man's eyes tells me he's doing his best to contain in a cheshire cat like grin, just like I am. "Hello Logan. Rosie's getting ready in her room. Go on up."

Logan just nods at us and proceeds to go upstairs to Rosie's room. Yeah, Rosie is also spoken for.

"Why does Logan not get your mean dad glares like Effy's boyfriend?" I ask him. I get more comfortable on the couch since I guess we won't be leaving soon now that Rosie also has to deal with Logan.

"I've been trusting that kid to lift and throw my daughter in the air for years. He earned my nice side." That's fair.

"So where are you going dressed so handsome?" I pry. I'm hoping the answer has something to do with that lady reporter Mack mentioned.

"A colleague is throwing a gathering. I wasn't going to go, but since you girls are going out, I thought I should too." He gives me tight lipped smile. This is good. He's letting go and allowing himself to have fun in something not work related.

He clears his throat. "I'm thinking about asking out someone on a date."

Seeing this massive and intimidating man get nervous about something is positively adorable. "That's amazing, dad. Who is she?"
