MAGGOTS

sometimes it feels as though
there are maggots
crawling through my veins
all the way up to my brain
crawling in through my ears
whispering things I don't want to hear
"They're staring"
"They're judging"
"They're giggling"
"They're giggling at you"
now it's midnight and it's time to play their favorite game
"Which person in your life hates you today"
no matter how much I try to exterminate them
they always come back
again and again
maybe one day they'll finally leave me alone
until that day arrives though
I guess I have to live
with maggots in my brain
