Maddy POV~

Maddy paced back and forth under the trees, hair messily tucked behind one ear. She caught snatches of her parents conversation- they were talking about her and she wanted to know why.
"But what if..."
"No it can't be, she's too young..."
"We ought to send her to a healer."
A healer? What was wrong with her? Why were they keeping secrets from her?

She sat down with a thump at the base of a tree. Not wanting to hear anymore, she closed off her wolf senses and breathed in the cool air. It was nice to be free, wild even, with no exams and school and other things to worry about. Except now there was this.
The answer was deep inside her, yet she couldn't reach far enough to pull it out. It hung in the air and glowed in her mind, like kindling for a flame.
Only wolfbloods didn't like fire.

It scared her, the thought of being like this for the rest of her life. Right now her home and her friends were far away, and Rhydian- it hurt to think about him. Every time there was the familar ache, and Eolas would be the only way to distract her. Just seeing him was enough to bring her joy, but in reality she wasn't with him, and it hurt.

Finally she stood, unable to dwell on the matter any longer. A twig snapped under her feet but she ignored it. With a determined expression on her face, she walked towards the clearing where her parents spoke, only to discover it empty.
Breathing in deeply, she was shocked to discover another Wolfblood had been here. Their scents were mixed up together and another chemical smell hung around, as if to confuse her. Anxiously she followed the chewed up scent trail a few hundred feet until it ended abrubtly at a river. Their scent had been washed away. Groaning, she scanned the area for any signs of her parents. Why had she walked off? None of this would have happened if she'd been more mature about it.
Maybe they were just messing around with her. They'd jump out, she'd pretend to be surprised, and then they would go back to the clearing.

As she turned to go, something caught her eye. On a small sapling to her left, a mark was gouged into the bark. She took a step closer. MS, it read.
Maddy Smith.

That was when the panic set in.

Goosebumbs lined her arms and her legs, and the ball of panic in her chest spread wings and fluttered around. It was hard to breath. The world spun, tipped and turned black.

What felt like seconds later, she opened her eyes on the forest floor, stiff and uncomfortable. The dim light meant she must have been out for hours- then she remembered her parents.
Quickly she sat up, and as her eyes adjusted to the gloom, she discovered she was trapped- a net bound her tight, strung between two large pine trees.

Shivering from the cold now, she tugged at her woven prison, desperate to break free- but it was useless. The twine scraped her fingers, and she couldn't even turn around she was so tangled.

Maddy was too busy fumbling with the net she did not notice the dark figure creeping towards her, until he spoke.

"I believe you have something of mine, Maddy Smith."

Cliffhangerrr ♥
Anyway sorry for the wait, I know this is a feeble excuse but I've been a bit busy :)
