Min Hee's POV:
"Min Hee, wake up! Your friend is waiting for you downstairs!" my mom's voice cut through the haze of sleep, as she tugged at the blanket I had wrapped tightly around myself, cocooning me like a burrito.
"Just five more minutes, Mom," I mumbled, half-asleep, my voice muffled by the blanket.
"I can wait, Min Hee, but your friend can't," she replied, her tone insistent. With a swift motion, she yanked the blanket off me. I tumbled from the bed, landing with a soft thud on my backside.
"Really, Mom?" I groaned, rubbing my sore rear and looking up at her with a mix of annoyance and grogginess.
"Good morning, honey," she said brightly, her smile unwavering despite my evident discomfort. "Get a move on! You don't want to be late for your first day of the second year."
As she turned and walked out of the room, her footsteps echoing down the hallway, I muttered to myself, "It hurts." My eyes fell on the phone resting silently on my nightstand. I reached for it, hoping to catch up on messages, but before I could open any, my alarm blared loudly, making me flinch and jump. The reality of the ticking clock hit me like a cold splash of water-I had less than 20 minutes to get ready and leave.
Panic set in as I scrambled out of bed, racing to the bathroom. I slammed the door behind me with a loud bang that seemed to reverberate through the house. I quickly brushed my teeth, splashed water on my face, and hurriedly dressed in my uniform, my movements hurried and disorganized.
Minutes later, I emerged from the bathroom, now wearing my neatly pressed uniform and with just a touch of makeup applied.
At the kitchen counter, my best friend, Seo Na Bin, had already begun stuffing her mouth with a sandwich. Her eyes widened slightly as she noticed me clumsily navigating the last few steps. With a mouthful of food, she managed to frown at my disheveled appearance. I knew what was coming; she was always quick to point out my morning mishaps.
Before Na Bin could say a word, I darted forward and grabbed her arm, pulling her toward the door. The last thing I heard before it clicked shut behind us was my mother's exasperated voice, echoing through the hallway, urging me to eat breakfast.
As we made our way down the street, Na Bin, still chewing, tried to speak. I cut her off with a quick glance. "Really, Minnie. I don't care if you embarrass yourself, but please, for the love of all that's holy, don't drag me into it," she said, shaking her head as she picked up the pace.
"Hey, stop being grumpy in the morning. What's wrong?" I asked, quickening my steps to match hers.
She halted abruptly and turned to face me, her expression a mix of disbelief and irritation. "Your roller. It's still in your bangs," she deadpanned, rolling her eyes at my obliviousness.
