“Scott, what are you doing?” Ellie asked her brother while standing in his doorway with her arms crossed.
Scott looked up at his sister with wide eyes. He was halfway putting his shoe on. He slowly dropped his shoe and smiled at her.
“Nothing,” he said quickly. She looked him up and down.
“You’re lying to me,” she told him. He scoffed and tried to play innocent.
“Pff, no.”
“Scott…” she said in a warning tone.
“Ugh, fine,” he said with a defeated sigh. “Derek called me and said that he wants me to meet him somewhere. We’re tracking down the alpha.”
Ellie frowned. “Since when are you and Derek talking, much less calling each other?”
Scott rolled his eyes and finished tying his shoes. “Since he almost beat the shit out of me and then said he’d help us.”
“Okay, so why didn’t he call me?” she asked Scott. Scott shrugged.
“Maybe he thinks it’s too dangerous,” Scott told her and threw on a jacket. He grabbed his phone too before walking over to her.
“But I’m not a damsel, or anything of the sort. I can handle myself,” she told him while rolling her eyes.
“I know that,” Scott told her and kissed her forehead. “I’ll tell you everything when I get back.”
Before she could say anything he ran over to his window and jumped out. She looked at the window with disbelief with her mouth hanging open. She felt like he just dismissed her like she was nothing.
She was also so mad that Derek didn’t call her. Like he didn’t even care to give her a heads up that he and her brother were now getting along.
It bothered her, especially because she hadn’t talked to him since they kissed. It was like that ruined all the communication for them. She didn’t want that. She wanted to be happy, and he made her happy. Really happy.
