It frustrated Sicheng because he couldn't just go with Xuxi, there were too many variables, but someone seeing him was the most present threat. There was no way to explain this to anyone, nobody would understand the subtleties of this. He just knew he'd feel so relieved when Xuxi got home, and right as his impatience and anticipation peaked, he heard the cabin door unlocking.
He ran over to the door excitedly before it could even open, and after what felt like a century, the door finally swung open. Xuxi was holding a plethora of bags on his way in, he set them down by the door just to get them out of his hands. "The rest of the bags are in the car, wait here while I get them." He told Sicheng. "Wait–" Xuxi stopped in his tracks at command, and Sicheng brought him in for a tight hug. "I missed you so much." He nearly whined, and Xuxi gave him a kiss on the forehead. "I missed you too."
He let go and walked back to the car, and Sicheng trailed behind him like a loyal puppy. "You shouldn't be walking on the ground barefoot, you could really hurt yourself." Xuxi warned, almost out of habit. It was in his nature to be protective of Sicheng. "Baby, I won't hurt myself and I think you know that. You don't have to worry about me for a minute anymore, the worst thing that could possibly happen already has."
It was so strange whenever the realization came back to him, it gave him such mixed emotions. The relief of him being around again, yet the recent memory depression he fell into after Sicheng's untimely passing. He tried not to dwell on it too much, the worst of it was over, and he felt happier than he had in years. "I still would rather you wear something out here." He pouted a bit, causing Sicheng to let out a big sigh. "Fine, do you have my slippers?"
Xuxi dug around the back seat, only to retrieve a pair of fluffy pastel pink slippers that had hard bottoms, they were the only pair of slippers that Sicheng liked, the others felt... Wrong. Whether they lacked proper cushion, or had a weird tag in the heal, or had scratchy faux fur, he found himself only able to wear this pair comfortably.
He put them on, and the feeling was the same as ever. It was definitely much more comfortable than walking barefoot across the dirt. "Okay, maybe you were right." He admitted, begrudgingly. "I know I was, you can't feel pleasure without at least a little bit pain." He gave a slight teasing smirk. Then returned to grabbing a huge box out of the backseat, as he carried it in, Sicheng picked up all of the loose miscellaneous items that fell on the floorboard.
It was a way that he could help, since he was far too weak to carry any of the boxes. It only took a couple of minutes for him and Xuxi to get everything inside, after all of that, Xuxi closed the trunk and locked the doors. They made their way back inside, and now it was time to go through all of the boxes. Sicheng seemed a little disappointed, that he had to figure out where to put everything instead of being able to just bask in Xuxi's presence. He honestly didn't know how Xuxi managed, all of those years without him and, in a way, he still waited.
