Chapter 38: If You Would Stay

"Shush, just let me hold you." My eyes were still leaking tears. Sama looked so broken right now.

I carefully step downstairs in my socks, needing some water to help my dry mouth. And yes, I did indeed have another nightmare.

However I didn't want to burden my girlfriend with my issues. Mainly me...

Swallowing some cool water, I hear a floorboard squeak. Poking around the corner, I freeze when something sharp is placed against my neck. Hearing,

"Don't move sweetheart." Bile rises in my throat. I wanted to scream for help. So I do.

"Sama! Help!" The blade pricks my throat. "You little-!" Shutting my eyes, I panic. I was going to die anyways. But at least she would with me this time. So I won't be alone in the afterlife.

I feel the movement of the knife leaving my throat. I fall onto my knees, clutching onto some sort of air. My eyes watch her stab his ribs with those claws.

"LEAVE HER ALONE!" Screams of pain are heard as I start crying. And then, "Skyelle?" I fall into her arms, clinging on for support. "I could've died!" Sobbing as she says gently, "He's gone. For real this time."

I whimper as her arms hold onto me, afraid to let go.

Her red eyes looked so empty. My heartbeat was still beating rapidly from the scare.

She had saved me yet again. Sama really was amazing. "Toru? I'm sorry for having you worry about me-" Her red lips move some as she talks.

"Shush, just let me hold you." My eyes were still leaking tears. Sama looked so broken right now. I just let her hold me closely. She just needed attention right now.

I ask gently, "Can I- can I say hi to Saigomo real quick? It's alright if not." My witch responds a little after. "It's fine. Just let me change."

Standing, err, sitting a little back I watch in awe as her hat disappears, claws turning into spider ones. My beautiful spider.

Saigomo sits by me as I smile some at her, head tilted. Her many glowing eyes look around some, then flick back to me.

Then Saigomo says, "What did you need my Butterfly?" I smash my lips against her lipstick covered fangs, and she groans as I grab onto her tightly.

Her claws carefully grasp my hair, making me mewl. Opening my eyes, I split from her. My spider says breathlessly, "What was that for?"

I smile affectionately. "For saving me. I just realized that I forgot to thank you." Her white glowing eyes glow a bit more. "I think that you might need to rest some more. Don't worry, I'm not leaving you."

Snuggling into her neck as she carries me on her back. Going up the stairs, I squeak when Sama suddenly appears, red lips smirking. I blush.

"Mhm, hello beautiful." Trying to hide my face I hide in her neck fluff, making the witch laugh and kiss me on the head.

"You're flustering me Toru-" Her red eyes stare down at me. "Ah, well what else do you expect of me?" I turn deep red as she sets me in her lap abruptly.

"Sama? Thank you. For saving me." Her elegant voice responds, soothing me as she runs her nails through my hair. "It's no problem. I'm just glad that- that you didn't actually get harmed."

My blue eyes look into her saddened red eyes. She still feels like she didn't get there in time. I swallow my despair. Thank God she did.

I speak up. "But at least we'd be together still, right?" She hums. "Yes. We are soul bonded ever since I revived you..." I laugh at the irony. "Think of it as payback for me reviving you first."

She growls playfully. "Now that I think of it, you still need sleep." I sigh as she speaks quieter. "Besides, I still want to claim you later." I turn red as a tomato.

"Alright, alright. I'll sleep. But you stay here with me. I don't feel any safer..." Cuddling me into her chest, I feel her talking. "Of course. I wouldn't let anyone take you from me ever again."

My eyes shut as she hums her theme. My worries float away as I hear that calming yet alluring song.

(Sama's POV)

I sigh as she finally falls asleep. However I don't stop humming. That horrible human came back to harm my butterfly. Thank Jigoku that I saved her in time.

My red eyes shut as I breathe out. Her tiny heartbeat making me aware that she was as much as living as I was.  Keeping her close as I turn some.

Butterfly is sleeping on a pillow on our bed, tiny feet moving occasionally. The ferret was absolutely adorable. Butterfly's giggles everytime she sees him made me feel happy.

Her phone vibrates. Her friend had texted her. I carefully pick it up as I read it.

Hey Skyelle. I was still worried about you. So I'd hope that once you get home that if you need any company (that isn't Sama's), that I'll come over immediately. Gotta go before my cousin yells at me to go join her in whatever she's doing. ;( 

My eyes roll. We were definitely not trying to kill each other anymore, but of course he'd still want to keep his distance. But during the search he allowed himself to comfort me when she was gone. 

My eyes flick over to look at the sleeping human. I tuck some hair behind an ear. She was my everything. Losing her would just make me want to just disappear forever.

She loved me and Saigomo both so much, that it stung.  

However her opinion on my giant centipede form was still unsure. Which is fine as she told her that I hated her in a dream she had.

Still, I don't want her to hate me as much as she doesn't want me to her. So whenever she was feeling as herself again, I was going to make it up to her.

...and invite her friends. Somehow that part was going to take a lot of my power to  fight with them. Anything for Skyelle though.
