The next day dawned bright and crisp, casting a hopeful light over Hogwarts as students bustled through the corridors, eager to begin their classes. Y/n navigated the morning rush with a sense of purpose, her encounter with Mattheo still fresh in her mind but determination fueling her steps.

In the Great Hall, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement as students gathered for breakfast. Y/n found herself seated at the Slytherin table, surrounded by classmates whose curiosity about the new girl was palpable. Pansy Parkinson, her initial acquaintance from the Sorting Ceremony, greeted her with a welcoming smile.

"Morning, Y/n," Pansy said cheerfully, pouring herself a goblet of pumpkin juice. "How was your first night in the dormitory?"

Y/n glanced around the table, noting a few sidelong glances from her fellow Slytherins. "Eventful," she replied with a wry smile, choosing her words carefully.

Pansy raised an eyebrow, sensing there was more to the story than Y/n was letting on. "Mattheo giving you trouble already?" she asked in a low voice, her tone sympathetic yet curious.

Y/n nodded slightly, not wanting to dwell on the details. "He's... challenging," she admitted diplomatically, opting not to share the full extent of Mattheo's rudeness.

Pansy gave her a knowing look, her expression conveying understanding. "He's like that with everyone," she confided, leaning in slightly. "But don't worry too much. Slytherins may be tough, but we respect determination and ambition. Show him what you're made of."

As Y/n sat down to her breakfast of eggs and toast, trying to enjoy a moment of quiet in the bustling Great Hall, Mattheo Riddle approached and casually took a seat beside her. His presence alone was enough to sour the atmosphere, and Y/n tensed as he spoke.

"Careful not to eat too much," Mattheo remarked casually, a smirk playing on his lips. "You'll gain more weight." With a mockingly exaggerated wink, he pushed back his chair and sauntered away, leaving Y/n seething with indignation.

The comment struck a nerve, cutting deeper than any of his previous insults. Y/n's hands clenched into fists, her jaw tightening with suppressed anger as she fought to control her rising emotions. The nearby Slytherins glanced at her with curiosity, unsure how she would react.

Unable to bear another moment in the stifling atmosphere, Y/n slammed her tray down with a loud clatter, drawing startled glances from nearby students. Ignoring the stares and whispers that followed her, she pushed back her chair and strode purposefully out of the Great Hall, her footsteps echoing with determination in the corridor.
