"Mrs. Neolani Pierce," I whispered with a grin as I stared at my reflection in the mirror, the weight of the new name sinking in.

"I can't believe this," I murmured to myself, grabbing my phone and searching for my purse.

Today, I was surprising Carter with lunch as his new wife.

"Mr. Carter Pierce's extravagant wedding took place last night in the heart of New York, at the Royal Gathering Hall. Formerly Miss Neolani Smith, the secretary at Carter Industries, now Mrs. Neolani Pierce, reportedly owns 30% of the company..." I switched off the television, tired of the media's buzz.

"The things you get for marrying a well-known buisness man," I thought, grabbing my purse and heading out.

I admired the luxurious lineup of cars in Carter's garage, even after two years of seeing them.

I decided to take my trusty old Lexus, hesitating to use one of Carter's fancier cars since I hadn't earned my own. Yet.

Arriving at the large complex, I thanked my driver and sent him home. Tonight, I planned to work late and leave with Carter.

Walking through the large corridors of Carter Industries, I couldn't help but feel amazed by its size.

As Mrs. Neolani Pierce now, I knew deep down I was still Neolani Smith, the secretary who had unexpectedly found herself in a world of wealth and extravagance.

Carter's office was at the toppest part of the building, at the end of a long hallway with two large double doors made of dark wood. Inside, it was spacious and modern, filled with expensive art and unique furnitures that spoke a lot about his taste in fashion.

Carter sat behind a large desk, deeply engaged in conversation with his top advisors. They spoke about an upcoming deal they had with Mr. Constatine, C.E.O of Cos Tech.

Carter seemed confident and in control, his aura commanding, yet there was a hint of frustration in his voice, suggesting he probably didn't like the way things are going with the upcoming deal.

I hesitated at the door, unsure whether to interrupt. When Carter noticed me, his expression hardened as he broke out a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. "Neolani," he greeted warmly, his attention shifting from his workers to me with a hint of annoyance.

"I brought you lunch," I said nervously, stepping into the room, feeling his eyes on me as his employees stood up to leave, knowing we needed privacy.

Carter smirked, his initial displeasing look gone, as he stood up and walked over to me with grace.

"I think I have something else in mind that I'd love to eat" he said softly, placing a hand possessively on my back.

"No way we're doing that here." I blushed hard as I lead him to a cozy corner which looked suitable for eating. A proper meal.

As we ate, Carter kept commenting on the food and how he has booked a dinner reservation in his beedrom. Pervert.

It reminded me of how our relationship before marriage had been nothing short of bliss.

After eating, I went to my office which was now beside Carter's and did my thing.

Hours passed, and the sun began to set outside. I went to Carter's office as I was done for the day. I knew he wouldn't have, but I'd prefer staying in his office waiting than doing nothing in here.

We talked about how our work went and upcoming projects, but there was an unspoken tension in the air-as he kept giving me the annoyed look he gave me when I initially came.

At one point, Carter was on a phone call, I checked my phone discreetly. There were no messages, but a sense of unease lingered.

Glancing around his impeccably neat office, I couldn't help but notice how everything was perfectly arranged, reflecting his slight O.C.D nature.

As dusk came, Carter finished his work for the day. He turned to me with a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes, his hand lingering on my arm.

"Shall we head home, Neolani?" he asked, his voice smooth but I could hear the impatience.

I nodded, hiding the growing unease inside me.
