1 MONTH LATER-

Author's Pov-

"Sankalp, it's the eleventh time you've called me since morning, and I've lost count of how many times you've called in the last three days," Sanjh said in an irritated voice on the phone.

"It's not my fault. You shouldn't have left me here alone," Sankalp replied, complaining in the same irritated tone.

"You're not a kid scared of the dark, are you?"

"Should I have to carry you around every time?" she said, furrowing her eyebrows.

"How heartless my wife is, God! I'm dying to hear her voice, and she's irritated with me. You're literally being unfair," he said, looking at the ceiling, which made Sanjh on the other end chuckle at his cuteness.

"Sankalp, it's just one more day. Don't be impatient," she said, chuckling and trying to reassure him.

"Yeah, whatever. It's not just one day; it's 24 freaking hours. Do you know how many minutes are in 24 hours?" he whined like a child.

"Yeah, one four four zero," Sanjh said, giggling.

"Yeah, oNe fOur fOuR zErO," he mimicked.

"Okay, Husband, now focus on your work and don't scold Advik for anything," Sanjh added, knowing he might blame Advik for being the reason his wife was away.

"You only care about your so-called brother. Never mind; I'm going to complain to your Mahadev about your behavior," he said and cut the call.

Sanjh giggled at his childish antics.

He had changed a lot in just a few months. He always whined like a kid, didn't want to go to the office, wanted to spend all his time with her, and constantly complained about how she didn't give him attention every second.

Now, with the pre-wedding rituals underway, when Sanjh told him she wanted to go to Banaras to perform rituals with her sister, he whined like a toddler, saying, "Take me with you! You can't leave me here alone. I can't live without you for four days."

In the end, Sanjh convinced him, but even at the last moment, he begged to come with her.

She glared at him and said, "Focus on your work and be with Advik." Because of this, he's now blaming Advik, saying he had to live alone because of Advik and his freaking wedding.

He called her parents and told them not to worry about the arrangements and to just let them marry at the temple.

They laughed heartily when they heard him say, "Kyunki mai aapki beti ke bina chaar din nahi rah sakta."

Today was Juhi's Sangeet ceremony.

The house was filled with aunts and girls, all singing and dancing.

Sanjh was running around, managing all the arrangements amidst the chaos.

Meanwhile, her Baba sat in his room, upset with the thought of having to say goodbye to his second daughter the next day.

He was overwhelmed by the emotions of the occasion.

The whole day was spent in preparations for the next day, with singing and dancing, until everyone finally fell asleep here and there around the house.

Sanjh, however, was still wandering around, occasionally talking with Sankalp.

He said he couldn't sleep without her warm cuddle, but she hadn't agreed to that.

While walking toward Juhi's bedroom, she heard someone sniffing. She ended her call as soon as she saw Juhi crying on the stairs.

She typed something on her phone and then walked over to her, silently sitting beside her on the stairs.

Juhi noticed her but didn't look at her or say anything.

"Tonight will be difficult for you. It's normal—overwhelming emotions of happiness and sadness, saying hello to a new person in your life and goodbyes to the people who gave you life and raised you with such love and care," Sanjh said softly.

"Mahadev made us with delicate hearts, filled us with so many emotions. He made us soft-hearted, and yet decided to give us pain for the rest of our lives. It's ironic that we have to leave our home to complete someone else's."

"We have to leave our family to give a family to someone else. Thinking about a father who treated his daughter like a piece of his heart tears my soul apart." Her throat tightened with tears, and her eyes were brimming with hurtful emotions, but she didn't break down.

"But guess what," she said, looking at Juhi, who met her gaze. "That's how it works. We always have to choose. It's unfair and cruel, but it is what it is."

She said with tearful eyes.

They were both interrupted by the sound of Juhi's mobile ringtone on her lap.

"Pick up the call; you need his assurance at this time," Sanjh said, looking at Juhi.

Juhi didn't speak a word but nodded, and Sanjh stood up to give them privacy and walked away.

Overwhelmed with emotions, Sanjh reflected on her own blissful life.

She knew she was fortunate to have a husband like Sankalp and the privilege of living with her parents, enjoying a happy life together.

Not everyone was as lucky as she was.

Meanwhile, Juhi walked to her bedroom and answered the call.

She lay on the bed, closing her eyes, with tears wetting the pillow beneath her.

Advik could tell she was crying from her shallow breathing and the soft sobs echoing in his ears.

He was also quite overwhelmed.

After a minute or two of silence, he finally broke it, asking in a slow voice, "Are you okay?" She didn't reply, only taking a deep breath.

"If you're overthinking about your new life," he continued, "let me tell you, you are incredibly precious to me, and you will always be for the rest of my life. Nothing will change tomorrow—neither my love nor my cravings for you. In fact, they will only grow stronger. My love for you will increase with every passing second."

"I've craved for a family my whole life," Advik said softly. "I've saved every ounce of love inside me to shower upon you. I'll always be by your side, no matter what—every day, every minute, every moment."

He spoke with a calm and reassuring voice, but Juhi cut him off, asking, "What about my Maa and Baba?"

This left him speechless.

He was thinking she's crying due to overthinking about her future, but no.

She was crying because she felt she was abandoning her parents to pursue her own happiness.

Advik smiled softly.

They didn't speak further.

After a few minutes of silence, Juhi fell asleep.

When Advik realized she had drifted off, he didn't end the call.

Instead, he placed his phone on his chest, smiled, and fell asleep, feeling as though she were in his arms.

This chapter is short for a reason: I needed to start the next scene with something new. 🤭🤭

The next chapter has a surprise for those who loved Advik and Juhi's scenes so much. 😋
