It started with the water. First it smelled bad, then it turned black. Shortly after animals began behaving strange.
The sweetest dogs bit through their unsuspecting owners throats.
Now it also got to the humans. You can trust noone anymore.
The last news aired three weeks ago. It stated that humanity has fallen. Nothing was broadcaster after.
Radio, television and electricity are things of the past.
In some of the now empty houses there is still water running, but it's jetblack and reeks of sulfur.
All streets are bathed in blood. Sometimes you still see body parts not completly torn to pieces.
No sign of living creatures can be found. Not even the chirping of birds can be heard.
But I'm not really alone. I run as fast as I can and it is still there.
Because I lack a better name, I call it it. With everyday it's coming closer towards me. It feels my fear.
So I keep on running, without knowing if there are still other humans out there.
The smell of sulfur keeps on following me relentlessly.
It smells like that, not me.
Then, me almost haven given up, I find a house. Lights shining through the window.
Humanity has not been destroyed yet.
For the first time in ages I feel hope again.
It senses my boost in motivation too.
As fast as I can possibly master I run towards the building and away from it.
My knocks on the door are loud and heavy. Soon it will reach me.
Finally the door opens. I push myself inside and slam said door behind me.
I take a deep breath. Two, three. I'm alive. I'm alive. I'm ALIVE.
Only now I have the time to look at my savior. He's smiling. I smile back.
He brings me to his table, gives me water, food and a comfortable bed to sleep in.
This repeats everyday, I only need to clean every now and then.
It feels like paradise.
I'm finally save.
One night I wake up to my throat throbbing with pain. My lungs stop getting air.
I touch it, only to have my hand come back bloody.
In the corner stands my savior, smile just a little to wide, eyes black.
"Good job, Sanguis. You'll get a piece too."
The strong smell of sulfur lulls me in as mz mind drifts away.
