Chapter 1

I woke up with a thud, terrified that someone might have broken into the house. My nerves were unsettled because I was by myself. Who could it be? Perhaps some thieves or a serial killer who would kill a pregnant woman? I got up and swallowed anxiously, grabbing my phone and a vase. This might be a good thing. I can't really attack, but I won't die without putting up a fight. I made my way to the kitchen, and my throat scratched with thirst. I poured some water into the glass, taking a quick notice of the eerie silence that suddenly engulfed me as I reached the kitchen.

"It would be good if you don't put up a fight woman" a deep voice said right behind me.
I got scared and let out a frightened scream as I whirled around and saw the sight unfold in front of my eyes. MEN! At least six of them, were dressed in uniforms that were similar to those worn in James Bond films.
As one of them approached me and told me to raise my hands above my head, I burst into tears.
My aching feet gave up as I fell to the ground, but the glass cup that I was holding reminded me that I still possessed a weapon in my hand. I didn't give it much thought before I launched it at the man with as much power as I could muster, which wasn't much.

The words "your choice, lady" were the last ones I heard before an intense pain in the back of my head brought to my attention that as the matter of fact I am highly vulnerable.

"Although we have not been able to locate Daniel, we have managed to get his wife, your majesty.' The man Alex who stood in front of the lady, answered his boss.

‘I want him to know that I have taken one of his precious possessions,  bring her here, and lock that place down.”

"As you wish, Your Majesty."

As the soldier stared at the helpless woman, he tutted pitifully. As much as he knows his boss, this is not going to end well for her.

"Mission successful soldiers, let's get her back to his Majesty." Alex shouted orders to the rest of his soldiers.

After a flight that lasted for three hours, they eventually arrived in Italy. As they stood in front of the castle, Alex begrudgingly looked over at the woman who was unconscious in his arms.

Alex stared at his subordinates, who were praising him on the success of the mission, while they simultaneously hurled curses at the woman who was unconscious.

Alex did not feel any pity for her because this was just the beginning of their hatred for her and it was nothing compared to what his majesty would do to her.

It wasn't until Alex had successfully tied her up in the dungeons of his Majesty's castle that he released a sigh of relief.

The swift march of soldiers announced the arrival of his Majesty, accompanied by severe commands ordered by him.

Because of his admiration and fear for his king, Alex bowed to him.

With a sly twinkle in his eyes, the monarch walked closer to the woman, who was bound and chained up.
He yelled at the others to wake her up.

The guard tossed a bucket full of water on her, and she responded by saying some coherent words. green eyes blinked in an attempt to clear their eyesight. The pounding headache was making it difficult for her to  focus.

"Who are you?" A harsh voice inquired, there was something about the intensity of his voice, forcing her to tremble with fear.
her ears were ringing from the previous injury she had sustained.

As the king grabbed a fistful of her hair, she felt a sharp pain in her head, which caused her to look up at him.

If she wasn't frightened of his words, she was most likely terrified of his  stare.
Her green eyes were gazing up at his blue ones, which were filled with hatred and disgust.

"I asked you something!" he said. While he tightened his grip on her hair,

"Am..Amara," she stuttered.

"How are you related to Daniel?" the king questioned impatiently, wanting nothing but to grasp Daniel as soon as he could.

"I am his wife”,Amara replied, her voice hoarse from fear and thirst.

"So tell me, Amara, where is he? Where is your husband?" The king asked
"I don't know." Amara whimpered at the underlying threat in his voice.
Suddenly, a second hand shows up out of nowhere and presses itself on Amara's throat, making it difficult for her to breathe. She was aware of the fact that she was only a few seconds away from a panic attack.
"Two months have passed since he last came home, sir." Amara sobs out of sheer terror.
"And you didn't make an effort to search for him?" “Do you take me for a fool, Mrs. Miller?" He presses his fingers more firmly on her throat, making it harder for her to breathe.
"I am not lying; please let go of me. I am pregnant, and I can't breathe. Please, sir." Amara pleaded, looking at the man with agony.
A scowl adorned the king's face, and he looked across at Alex, questioning him if she was indeed pregnant. Alex swallows deeply. He realized  that if he had known that she was pregnant, he wouldn't have injured her so badly, he grimaced at the sight of Amara tied to the chair with blood dripping from her head.
"It does not appear that she is pregnant, sir. It is beyond a doubt that she is lying." According to Alex, who was now sweating profusely,.
"If the woman were genuinely pregnant, she would have been dead by now." Alex added
"You are telling lies in order to get away from this little woman?"  The king inquired about it.
"No, sir, I am not lying; I swear on my husband that I am indeed four months pregnant. Please, I beg you." Amara pleaded
"Despite the fact that she is four months pregnant, she must have known where her husband was." Alex attempted to further argue  "A husband would'nt leave their pregnant wife for two months, and that too without reason."

The king nods thoughtfully.
"I will ask you for the one last time, Amara! Where is Daniel?" "If you tell me the truth, I will not harm you in any way," the king said, moving away from her, but his eyes still kept her imprisoned in their hatred.

Amara screams and coughs due to a lack of breath. "I swear that I do not know where he is. If I did know, I would have told you. Please let me go." Amara sobbed

A loud and sudden gunshot boomed in the place, startling everybody present there.
Amara's heart rate quickens as her eyes roll to the back of her head, and she begins to lose consciousness once more. Before she could totally lose consciousness and lose the fight against the waking world, she heard the king yell, "Are you a fucking idiot?" .
With that, she surrendered defeat to the awake world and embraced the darkness instead.
