You're My Best Friend

eight days later...

Sunlight streamed through the large windows of "Leo's Hearth," casting a warm glow on the empty tables and cozy armchairs. A gentle breeze carried the scent of freshly brewed coffee and cinnamon rolls, a comforting aroma that usually heralded a bustling morning.

But today, it was a national holiday, and the usual weekday crowd was replaced by a smattering of customers, enjoying the rare opportunity for a leisurely breakfast. Seohyun, perched on a barstool nearby, her elegance a stark contrast to the cozy and warm feel of Yura's cafe, sipped her latte with a satisfied sigh.

"Business is a little slow today, huh?" Seohyun remarked, her voice teasing.

Yura chuckled, tossing a playful glance at her friend. "Slow and steady wins the race, Unnie. Gives me time to catch up on cleaning and maybe even sneak in a quick nap."

They chatted for a while, their conversation flitting from Seohyun raised an eyebrow playfully. "A nap? Or are you secretly hoping a certain pilot might come strolling in for a surprise coffee?"

Yura's cheeks flushed a rosy pink. The memory of her unexpected kiss with Jeno in the plane still sent shivers down her spine. Since their return, however, things had been...complicated.

"Don't tease," Yura mumbled, avoiding Seohyun's knowing gaze.

The morning continued at a leisurely pace. A few more customers trickled in, enjoying their breakfast and lingering over steaming mugs of coffee. By mid-afternoon, the cafe was deserted once more.

Yura glanced at the clock. "It's still pretty early," she mused, "but there haven't been any customers in a while. Maybe I should just close up for the day?"

Seohyun readily agreed. "Sounds like a plan. How about a girls' night out? My treat!"

The suggestion sparked a smile on Yura's face. "Sounds perfect," she agreed, already feeling the stress of the week melt away.

The idea of pampering and forgetting about her troubles for a while appealed to Yura. They spent the rest of the afternoon indulging in a luxurious spa treatment at the mall, their bodies melting under the skilled hands of the masseuses.

Afterwards, they hit the department stor, browsing through stores and treating themselves to a few new clothes. As they walked past the men's section, Yura found herself drawn to a display of neatly folded shirts. Her fingers traced the soft fabric of a light blue one, a shade she vaguely recalled Jeno mentioning he liked. She held it up, a small smile playing on her lips as she imagined how it would look on him.

Seohyun, who had been browsing a nearby rack, turned and noticed the subtle shift in Yura's demeanor. The playful glint in her eyes returned. She crossed her arms and gazed at her best friend with a knowing smile gracing her lips.

The older woman noticed the slight quirk of Yura's lips and the way her gaze lingered on a particularly stylish blue shirt. She reminded of Yura's high school self whenever she was smitten.

Back then, Yura wouldn't be outwardly vocal, but Seohyun could always tell from the subtle changes in her behavior – the way her eyes lingered a beat too long, the small, involuntary smile that played on her lips.

Yura wasn't one for grand gestures or dramatic declarations. But Seohyun knew her best friend's heart – thoughtful, considerate, always putting the needs of others before her own.
