As you were unpacking the last of your things, you checked the time on the clock upon the wall. "Just on time!" You ran to the living room and excitedly hopped on the couch. You reached for the nearby remote and flicked through the channels then stopped once Ken's interview. "No,no,no. What I said was I am the greatest living player." You rolled your eyes at his statement. "Mr. Sato! What are your opinions on baseball?" A reporter asked. "I love baseball. It's all I've got. Well, that and my lovely girlfriend at home." He smiled and then winked in the camera. You laughed at his actions, he could be silly at times. Or all the time. "Mr. Sato. Why did you come back to Japan?" Confused, Ken stammered. "I... I'm sorry. What's your name?" He asked. "Ami Wakita."
"Hold up. You're the Tigers fan, right?" Laughter erupted from the crowd. "That wasn't the question Mr. Sato. The question is why, on the verge of your first championship, you choose to walk away and start over. Some suggest it was emotional stress." She finished. He was silent. He took a sip of water and got up from his seat. "My apologies, Miss Wakita. Unfortunately I have a fan event to attend. Goodbye everyone, much love." Then it ended. "Oh, Ken..." Truth is... he was looking forward to the championship. But when is father called, asking him to come back home because of his injury to be Ultraman. He had no choice, he understood he had responsibilities. Even if he didn't ask for them. You sighed and then proceeded to housework."Finally done!" You sat back in a random chair to relax. That's when your watch started vibrating and flashing red. You held it up to see it was a Kaiju alert. "Oh no." You got back up and once again went to the living room. The KDF news were broadcasting the whole fight. And to say the least, you can tell it's Ken's first day on the job. Ken fled the scene before neutralizing the situation. You decided you were gonna talk about it when he got home.
"Welcome home Ken." You heard the automated voice greet. "Yeah. Yeah." Ken took off his helmet and jacket along with his shoes. "Babe!" He called to you. "In here!" He followed your voice into the dining area. He found you with a bag full of baseballs and a bat. "What are-" You put the bat in one hand and held the other. "Come on." You said to him. Maybe this could let out some of his pent up frustration.
You both took the elevator down to the simulation room. And you let him play to his hearts content. He swung for the last time and hit it out the park. You cheered for him, as would any supportive partner. "That's what I'm talking about!" Ken exclaimed. He then winced in pain and grasped his shoulder. Mina floated to him side and scanned him. You ran towards him and took the bat away from him. "Ken, it appears that you strained your rotator cuff during the battle." Mina said. "That's what I get for saving lives." He groaned. He started to leave the room and you followed a few paces behind. "Ken, it is your duty to save lives." Mina responded. Well, I prefer to save my arm and leave the kaiju to the KDF."
"You know what happens when you leave it to them." I interrupted. Ken chuckled and then sat on the long, red couch. "Yeah. I have a double-double, a chocolate shake, and a good nights sleep." You sat next to him on the couch and sighed. "Mina, could you turn on the TV please?" You asked. "Ofcourse Y/n."
It was yet another news report. "More destruction today as the KDF and Ultraman battled Neronga. As one witness told us- "I love Ultraman. Always have. He's done so much good in the past.""See? I'm not that bad after all!" Ken wrapped an arm around you. "But he's been gone for months. And now that he's back, it's like he doesn't really care. I mean look at this..."
It showed footage of an entire structure in ruins. You felt for her, understood her feelings. "I didn't want this gig! And now everybody's coming at me. Shimura, the KDF, random grandmas!" He stood up and paced around the room. "And now you!" He pointed at you, and then you scoffed. "I'm not coming at you Ken!" You retorted. "I just understand the importance of your title and I'm trying to help you keep it!" Ken sighed and we both sat in silence. "Can we please... give Ultraman a rest? He asked softly. "Yes..."
