you know, not too bad if you do say so yourself. even got a final score! you're totally doing this.

a yellow girl with a short, clean blue pixie cut and a silly little cowlick at the back opened the door. she was pretty darn cute, to be honest!!

"oh hello! who are you? you know, i just love your outfit." she said excitedly.

"um, hello, im the inspector.. thank you!" hehe, a little bashful, are we?

"that is so amazing, come on in! so.. what do you do, per se? as the inspector and all that jazz." she kept on making these silly hand gestures to get her point across- she was honestly really friendly. this surely wouldn't be too hard.

"oh, i just have to.." you looked down at your checkboard, "ensure quality and smoothness in headquarters for the higher-ups! no pain!"

"weeell.. im sure itll go fine! first day on the job?" she was so.. smiley.

"heh, yeah, how could you tell?"

she sure is pretty..

"just a guess! come right on in!!"

as you stepped inside you noticed just how spacious and comfortable it was- almost like a home. "oh, and you are?"

"joy," she smiled warmly at you. "and those are the others, anger, fear, disgust, and sadness!"

"well, hello!" you greeted them, feeling a lot more confident in yourself than you felt previously. "we're all doing good? things running smoothly?"

they all seemed to assure you in different ways- such as sadness' small nod. it was almost endearing, how shy and soft she seemed. fitting, though.

suddenly, a tug was felt on the hem of your shirt. a small and soft teal hand. you looked down to see it belonged to a cute little girl with large, adoring eyes.

"i like your shirt.. i should get one like that!" she grinned.

"awwwh, that's sweet.." you cooed. okay, maybe the embarrassment is catching up to you. like that big pink dude in the corner. seems like you're feeling a fraction of what he is. haha..

joy smiled even wider, introducing her to you as "envy."

a slouchy, noodle-looking purple thing sighed. "you are missing someone.." in a thick and sharp accent.

"oh weewee!! heh, thats boredom.. ahnwhi? annwee? by the way." she whispered to you quickly- "you're right! who was it, who was iiit.." joy snapped her fingers, racking her brain. "anxiety! come on, inspector!"

you don't exactly plan on telling them your name.. but it wouldn't hurt to later.

joy grabbed your hand, pulling you along for the ride. it was honestly nice, really warm and gentle, but firm, like she wouldn't let go of you.

"anxiieeety?" she called..

a short, fuzzy orange thing jumped in its? seat, surprised. it was rapidly writing down and planning over and over, seemingly hard at work, but with what? it seemed tired..

"what'd i tell you about staying up all night!" joy exclaimed, her hands on her hips sternly. you giggled, she seemed almost like a mother to these other emotions who were certainly characters.

"s-sorry joy, i was just, you know, planning for all the outcomes that might happen like riley being killed and eaten by a shark or a shark eating and killing her parents or her dog or her grandparents or- or-" she explained frantically.. weird.. "cause, you know! its a lot of work, and we gotta keep riley safe!"

her eyes darted around for a second before she noticed you.

"umm.. joy? who's this? who are you?"

"this is the inspector! coming to make sure everything's going just fine! right?"

"right!" you nodded, looking down to your checklist. you scribbled down a small note, about anxiety. she seemed a bit weird, you'd have to remind yourself to.. probably avoid her on your next visit, you know? otherwise, you checked off each box.

"well, good first visit, joy! i'll.. hope to see you soon." you managed a smile at her, the orange girl staring oddly at you two. you extended a hand to joy and shook her hand.

"it was good, too! hope to see you soon!"

you scribbled down a small "9.5/10" on your score rating and left. pretty good score, you just hope it goes this smoothly on your next visits over the week.

unfortunately for you, a small orange girl was left tugging her hair over you, wondering what would happen next over you, a stranger.
