The dawn after the battle brought a tentative calm over the bunker. Sunlight filtered through the dense forest, casting long shadows over the fortified entrance. Inside, the family and their allies began to assess the damage and plan their next steps.

Project 2025 had been a radical agenda from the start. Spearheaded by Trump and his allies, it sought to dismantle democratic institutions and establish autocratic rule under the guise of restoring order. Key elements included the restriction of voting rights, increased surveillance, and suppression of dissent. When Trump declared martial law, it marked the tipping point, plunging the nation into chaos and sparking widespread resistance. The declaration gave the regime sweeping powers to suppress protests and enforce their control with military might. Despite his conviction on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records, and his pending charges in Georgia-which he cannot pardon himself from-Trump was still elected president. This only motivated him to not leave office at the end of his term. He leveraged the narrative that the system was rigged against him, although the delays and dismissals of his other legal cases in Florida and DC before and after his inauguration suggested otherwise.

The chaos began gradually, with increasing reports of protests being met with violent crackdowns. The government justified these actions by claiming it was necessary to maintain order. However, as the months passed, the measures became more draconian. Curfews were imposed, communication channels were monitored, and dissent was brutally suppressed. Foreign troops, seeing an opportunity amidst the chaos, entered the country to exploit the instability for their own gain.

Michael, Jelani, and the others surveyed the bunker's exterior and interior, noting the breaches and areas that needed reinforcement. The west side, where the explosion had occurred, was the most critical. Joey and Shawn immediately began working on patching up the walls, using the materials they had scavenged and stored for such emergencies.

"We need to reinforce this section with more durable materials," Michael said, inspecting the damage. "And we should set up additional barriers around the perimeter."

Everyone nodded in agreement, the gravity of their situation clear in their determined expressions. Each member took on specific tasks, coordinating their efforts with a newfound sense of urgency.

Inside the bunker, Alexis and Ashley were hard at work. The makeshift infirmary was filled with the injured, and the sisters moved with practiced efficiency, their nursing skills crucial in these moments.

"Hold still," Alexis murmured to a young man with a gash on his arm. She cleaned the wound and applied a bandage, her movements quick but gentle.

Ashley, meanwhile, tended to an older woman with a fractured leg, her voice calm and reassuring. "You're going to be fine," she said, splinting the leg with expert care.

The sight of Alexis and Ashley working together, putting aside any lingering tensions, was a source of strength for the others. Their dedication to helping the injured provided a sense of hope and unity amidst the chaos. Tim and Daryl assisted where they could, offering their support and ensuring supplies were readily available. The teamwork and cooperation in the infirmary mirrored the broader efforts of the group, reinforcing their resilience and solidarity.

Later in the day, the family and their allies gathered in the central room for a strategy meeting. Candice, Mariah, Tyler, and Michael led the discussion, outlining the immediate tasks and long-term goals.

"We need to ensure our defenses are impenetrable," Michael said. "And we need to establish more reliable communication channels."

Tyler nodded. "I can work on setting up secure lines and encryption. We can't afford to be caught off guard again."
