Ella walked through the enclosed doors of Ronland Hostel, her mind still reeling from the unfinished conversation with Elly. She couldn't shake off the feeling that he had wanted to reveal something important to her. As she entered her room, she found her roommate, "Sophia", lounging on her bed, scrolling through her phone.
Sophia, a business student , was a petite young woman with long, curly brown hair and bright blue eyes. She had a small nose ring and a tattoo of a sun on her ankle, giving her a quirky and adventurous vibe. Her warm smile and relaxed demeanor put Ella at ease."Hey, Ella! How was your day?" Sophia asked, looking up with a friendly smile.
Ella hesitated, unsure how much to share. "It was good," she replied, trying to sound casual. "Just a lot to process from today's lecture."
Sophia nodded, seemingly unaware of Ella's internal turmoil. "Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm still trying to wrap my head around some of the concepts myself."
The two girls started making supper together, Sophia began to open up about her own life. "Hey, Ella, can I tell you about my boyfriend, Smith ? We've been dating for two years now, and it's been an amazing journey."
Ella listened intently as Sophia shared stories about their relationship, from their first date to their latest adventures. As they chopped vegetables and stirred the pot, Sophia revealed her hopes and dreams, her fears and insecurities. Ella found herself drawn to Sophia's warmth and vulnerability, feeling a connection grow between them.
As they sat down to enjoy their meal together, Ella realized that sometimes, all it takes is someone willing to listen and share their own story to make you feel less alone.
Just as they were savoring their food, Ella's phone rang. She smiled as she saw her "Mom's names" on the screen. "Hey, Mom! Is dad around , Hey, Dad!" she asked trying to sound cheerful. "How are you both doing?" They chatted for a bit, asking about her day, and then her mom asked, "Is your roommate there? We'd love to say hi!" Ella turned to Sophia, "My parents want to talk to you!" Sophia's eyes lit up, and she mouthed "That's so cool!" as Ella handed her the phone.
"Hi, Mrs.Angella !" Sophia said, her voice warm and friendly. "It's so nice to talk to you. Ella and I are getting along great. We're having a lot of fun getting to know each other." Ella's mom chatted with Sophia for a bit, asking her about her interests and hobbies, before saying, "You girls make sure to study hard and take care of each other. And don't hesitate to call us if you need anything at all, okay?" Sophia nodded, even though they were on the phone, and said, "Thank you so much, Mrs. Angella. That means a lot to us. We'll definitely keep that in mind." She handled over the phone to Ella ......okay mom goodnight .Ella said , goodnight too baby said her parents as they hang up.
As they finished their meal, Ella's phone rang again. She picked it up, her heart skipping a beat as she saw the unknown number. "Hello?"
"Hello," Elly's voice came through the line.
"Who is this?" Ella asked, her tone cautious.
"It's Elly, your lecturer," he replied, his voice warm and familiar. "We met earlier today in class."
Ella's eyes widened in surprise. "How did you get my number?" she asked, her curiosity piqued.
"Ah, I got it from your class representative," Elly explained. "I asked him for your number so I could check in with you about our earlier interaction before I got interrupted with an emergency."How are you? He asked
Ella felt a mix of emotions - surprise, curiosity, and a hint of wariness. She wasn't sure what to make of her lecturer calling her out of the blue. "I'm doing fine, thank you," she replied, her tone polite. "But I think it wasn't necessary calling me. Ella said...
