You could remember falling asleep very vividly. You had changed into your pajamas and brushed your teeth, quickly slipping into bed before your brain could change its mind and wake you back up.
Insomnia was no joke so you took whatever sleep your body willing gave to you — be it at work or when you were trying to watch a movie.
So when you woke up, in an unfamiliar surrounding that resembled a boiler room, you kind of wished you were awake. The hot grates burned your feet and you hopped from foot to foot down the seemingly endless hall, "What the hell?"
"Nah... not hell, sweet cheeks." A voice responded, startling you. A disfigured man rounded a corner you hadn't noticed before — but maybe it hadn't been there to begin with — tapping his chin with a hand that was gloved and decorated with knives as claws.
"Whatever, man," you deadpanned, looking around for something that might wake you up, "Can I just go to sleep?"
The man looked at you funny, "Shouldn't you be running away? Screaming for your mommy or something?"
"This is a really weird dream..."
He snapped his fingers in front of your face until you looked at him, "Hello?? Not a dream! I'm Freddy fucking Krueger!"
You chuckled, "Say that five times fast."
Freddy scowled at you, "You're no fun at all."
-
For the next few months, Freddy kept visiting your dreams, finding it increasingly annoying how he hardly got to them at all considering you were hardly ever asleep. You had, at some point, started to look forward to seeing Freddy because every time you did, you woke up feeling well rested and energized.
It was a seemingly normal Tuesday when Freddy appeared once again in your sleep, trying to scare you like all the other times. He tore off the fake clown face, tossing it over the edge of the railing to be melted by the heat. "Honestly, man, do you even have a greatest fear?"
You laughed, "If I did, why would I tell you?"
"You're the absolute worst."
Freddy had made it his sole mission to scare you so bad you woke up in a puddle of your own piss, but he still had no luck with everything he tried.
Nothing scared you at all!
And it was really starting to piss him off. He'd even given up on Nancy to make you his sole focus.
"I'll get you next time!" Freddy declared, shoving you over the edge of the railing and into the never ending steam like he had before. It simply startled you awake and you turned to look at the green numbers displayed on your alarm clock.
4:29
"Damn... couldn't even let me sleep in," you muttered, getting out of bed to get a glass of water.
-
The next night, the sleep that came was unbothered, even if it wasn't very long. You found yourself missing Freddy and his vulgar jokes to some degree. You thought about it for a little bit before trying to get some more rest, snuggling deeper into the blankets, eyes closed but not asleep.
Freddy's shadow lingered over you but he was nowhere in sight. You peaked an eye open, searching for whatever had made the noise that caused you to wake up again. You sat up, alarmed to hear the clinking of knives — Freddy's signature sound.
You turned to your right, looking down at a nonchalant Freddy, reclined in your bed and reading a magazine he'd found on your nightstand.
"Freddy? What the hell?"
"Heya, pretty boy..." he smiled, lightly trailing his un-gloved hand down your arm.
You blushed, embarrassed and unable to respond.
"What... too shy to say anything?"
"Get off me, Freddy."
"Okay... okay," he muttered, snapping his fingers and disappearing.
"I think I miss not sleeping..." you said, flipping back onto the bed.

It's a little short... might make a part two
