Emotions were funny things. They could consume you and have the power to either make you or break you. Love was the worst one out of them all. It could make you reach heights that can even touch the sky and also crash you back down into the earth. The force of love was so strong that it even made the almighty Sasuke Uchiha fall to his knees.
After ten long years of struggle and staying in the dark, Sasuke finally saw the light. The final battle with Naruto and understanding his feelings made Sasuke see the world from a different angle. All of his past mistakes were clear to him. Naruto made him understand that power isn't everything. The end of the war pushed him to leave the past behind and be motivated to work for a better future.
As he was sitting in the hospital bed Sasuke couldn't stop but think about his past actions. There were regrets, sadness, trauma, and pain. The pain he had to endure, the relations he broke, and the regrets he had to live with. Out of all the people he left behind there was one person that bothered him the most. Sakura Haruno.
The light in her eyes was gone when she first arrived to heal him and Naruto. Seeing that made him realize the limit he went to hurt her. It was just for a few seconds but they were enough to make him rethink his actions towards her again. After his family, there was no one who he cared for. There was nobody, whose tears made his heart hurt, at least that's what he thought.
It was that moment when he realized just how much he cared for Sakura and her well-being. In his genin days, he knew he cared for Sakura but now he realized to what limits his feelings were. Sasuke who never said sorry in his life couldn't help but apologize to his old teammate. And he would do that a thousand times more.
Sasuke never thought Sakura's touch and her voice would give him a sense of calmness. Maybe it did in the past as well but he never noticed. Her chakra was warm when she healed him. He never wanted her to stop touching him when she worked on his bandages. The light in her eyes was back and he didn't want them to disappear again. He learned that he loved her eyes, especially the way they shined when she smiled.
'What were these feelings?' Sasuke wondered. He thought about this for a long time until he ultimately concluded. It was really simple.
He loved her.
He might have always been in love with her. He never realized that before. He remembered hating it when other boys and Naruto got too close to her. He didn't like it when it was someone else than him protecting her. He disliked it when she wasn't her cheerful self. Though having a cold exterior he always wished for Sakura to be happy.
Now he was sure of his feelings and he accepted them wholeheartedly. She may or not accept his love back but one thing was certain, that he would always love her and never do anything to hurt her again. He vowed to himself that he would redeem himself and make himself a better person. Someone worthy of Sakura's love and win her back. That was the only purpose of his life for now. This feeling was a new beginning for Sasuke. A new start to everything.
