The following next couple of days were a blur for the team. And it all began on Tuesday, after school.
"Elle, do you have the money?" Talia whispered as the bell rang out.
"Yeah, let's do this. I just hope it's enough," Elle held up the envelope with a thousand dollars cash inside. "You guys are lucky my parents came to the agreement to make me pay them back during college."
They marched into the office together where the secretaries were finishing up their day. "Where's Mrs. Thistle?" Elle politely asked.
"Right in her office," the first secretary pointed.
The girls bravely went into their principal's office. "Mrs. Thistle?" Talia spoke. "We'd like to make an offer."
"And that is?" Mrs. Thistle didn't look up from her paperwork.
"We'd like to buy a school bus off you."
Thistle then looked up and took off her spectacles. "What have you to offer?"
"In this envelope I have a thousand dollars in cash. That is our offer."
Mrs. Thistle began to laugh. "I'm sorry girls, but they're worth more than that. I'm afraid I'll have to turn you down on it."
Talia and Elle felt defeated. "Okay. Do you think you could tell us if one becomes available?" Elle asked sweetly.
"Of course. Now, school is dismissed, so you may leave."

Elle laid sprawled on Talia's bed, throwing a bouncy ball at the wall. Talia paced.
"What do we do now?" The girls sat in silence for a moment before Talia perked up. "Elle! Didn't Trinity say that her uncle was a bus driver?"
Elle shot up from her position. "Talia, you're a genius! Quick, we gotta get to Trinity's house!"
***
"Ooh, can I ring the doorbell?" Talia asked excitedly. Elle rolled her eyes and smiled.
"Sure."
Talia pressed the button and waited. A few moments later, Trinity opened the door.
Talia spoke immediately, leaning against the doorframe and speaking in a fake man voice. "Hey purdy lady, we have some business-like stuff to chat about with you."
Elle playfully elbowed her but accidentally made her fall.
"Oops! Oh well, that's what you get for acting like an idiot."
"Not fun," Talia pouted.
Trinity finished laughing. "Okay, come on in."
The girls stepped into the living room. "You mentioned the other night that your uncle is a bus driver and could help us," Elle jumped right in.
"Actually, I've already talked to him," Trinity beamed. "Turns out he has a bus and it's for sale. He wants five hundred."
Elle and Talia grinned widely.
"Five hundred you say?" Talia asked.
"Yep."
"Well, it just so happens that we have twice that money in this envelope right here," Elle flaunted.
Trinity's eyes went as wide as saucers. "How did you get a thousand dollars?"
"Let's just say I'm going to be broke during college," Elle laughed.
"I'll call my uncle now. You two stay here."
Trinity went into the other room to make the call.
Talia squealed. "We're getting the bus!"
"Don't get your hopes up, okay? What if he decided to double or triple the price without Trinity knowing?" Elle said coolly. Trinity burst back in the room.
"He said it's sold!" she danced. "And, he'll give it to you for three hundred because we're friends!"
"Can I do my happy dance now?" Talia squealed.
"Okay, we can do the happy dance now!" Elle allowed.
"And he said we can pick it up and start renovations tomorrow after school," Trinity added.
"Sounds good to me!" Elle high-fived Trinity. "Thanks, we couldn't have done this without you or your uncle."
"Hey, anything for friends."
