It's been one year since I've seen her.
At first, I didn't think about the Echo much. Sure, every now and then thoughts of her would sprout in my mind but I was more focused on rebuilding my home, restoring everything we lost. Now? now she won't leave my mind, every thought of her makes my heart pound and yet I do not know why.
Is it anger... the hurt from betrayal? I'm really not sure. It has been a few months since everything in the clan has got back into order, we have found peace and yet I still feel as though something is missing, some part of me has been lost. I cannot figure out what is happening to me and it frustrates me more by the day.
Me, Anaya and Soona decided to go fishing today. Fishing is one of the easier jobs in the village and since I have taken over I've not had much rest. Soona insisted I take it easy today.
I see Anaya lift two big rocks with his hands "Anaya is very strong! see?"
"Put that down before you hurt yourself!" Soona says as she slaps his hand. I chuckle at the scene unfolding before my eyes, I look up to the clear blue sky is like a flawless masterpiece painted by nature herself. It's a sky without a single cloud in sight, just pure, radiant blue stretching as far as the eye can see. It's like a crystal-clear window to the heavens above, it reminds me of her eyes. They are like sparkling sapphires, shimmering with a hint of mystery. The color of her eyes is so vivid and intense, they draw you in and make you feel like you're getting lost in a tranquil ocean. The eyes themselves are like windows to the soul, revealing a sense of depth and emotion. They can be both calming and electrifying, as if they hold a universe of stories and secrets. They leave me feeling enchanted by their mere beauty..
WHAT?! Why am I even thinking of her, what is wrong with me? she betrayed us, betrayed me.Soona sees me lost in thought, she walks over leaving Anaya to his mischief. "Noa? What is wrong?" I sniff in confusion, pretending nothing is bothering me and sign nothing, I am alright Soona.
Are you sure? She signs back.
I nod and she sits herself beside me. I stiffen at the embaressment, thinking she can read my thoughts.
I sigh, turning to face the rest of the forest. Soona lays her head upon my shoulder and whispers "I am here for you Noa, we both are. You know that right? we would do anything for you, if something is wrong please let us help." I rest my head onto hers and whisper back "I know.. there is something... bothering me. I cannot stop thinking of Echo..." I don't tell her the exact thoughts I am having about her but i continue "She betrayed.. us, used us and for..what? we lost... Raka" my voice breaks as a tear rolls down my face. I miss him so much he was a great friend to me, " I..I am trying to forgive her but look what she done. She destroyed everything. I do not know if apes and human can live together."
Soona raises her brow as she strokes my back in a soothing manner.
"Noa. Look at me." I do as she says and she continues "Raka was a great ape, I never got the chance to meet him but remember what he told you, remember Caesar's teachings." I think for a second and i know she is right. Raka made me who i am today. He taught me about Caesar, about compassion. I breathe in, feeling the air in my lungs and raise my head, I turn to Soona and sign Thank you my dear Soona, you are a good friend she signs back We care about you Noa, all we want is for you to be happyBack at the village
I find my mother with the children of all the apes. She signs to them something about Caesar. Ever since we began to rebuild her have made sure that all the apes in the village, including the children are taught about him in honor of Raka.
I turn smiling at all the other apes I walk by, as I try to find Anaya.Surprisingly, he is by himself, he chatters away to himself in his hut "Oh Anaya.. where did you put it.." I knock on the rough door, waiting for an answer, when i do not get one i open the door to find fish... scattered across the floor "Anaya?" i call out, searching for him in confusion j finally find him in his room, searching carelessly for something.
"Anaya..what are you doing?" I ask in bewilderment.
His brows furrow as he glances up, seeing me he jumps and starts hooting
"Noa! Noa! You are here! I need help!"
"With what? What is all this mess?"
"I lost Baby Eagle.."
Baby Eagle is Anaya's Eagle, he was to indecisive about the name at the ceremony so we've just been calling his bird Baby Eagle.
I sigh after his clumsiness
"Anaya, you know all the new Eagles were taking this morning to the cages so they are fed properly. They will give you him back later."
"Oh-Ohhh, Silly Anaya. I forgot"
I shake my head in 'disbelief' at my friend.
"Noa..Will you help me clean up fish? then can we go on adventure? pleaseee" he says with menacing eyes
"Fine. We haven't done anything fun in a while, it will be good for us. Whoever gets to the water first wins!" I hoot as I run on all fours to get there faster as I hear Anaya shout "I always win! You can't go against me Noa" I laugh and roll my eyes knowing that's not true at all.A few hours later
"Anaya where are you taking us?!" Soona says as Anaya covers our eyes with his hands.
" Shh, be quiet and wait !!"
Soona whispers to me
" We can't trust Anaya he will make us trip of something"
I snigger while Anaya replies
"Hey, i heard that! and i will not !"
When we finally stop, Anaya let's go of us, my eyes take a minute to adjust but once they do, i know exactly where we are.
This is where we first met Mae.I don't know if anyone is even reading this but if you are i hope you enjoy it so far! there are still many, many more chapters to come (i know I've made spelling or grammar mistakes but rest assured I will be fixing them sooner or later)
