"I have an announcement to make!" Kyojuro Rengoku yelled out, disturbing basically everyone else as they collectively partook in each other's company.
"Yeah? What's that?" Sanemi boringly asked, eating his okonomiyaki.
"I am going to have a tsuguko!"
Iguro immediately choked on his own spit from the sentence, harshly coughing to try and clear his throat. Uzui cackled on the other hand, finding the thought rather hilarious.
Mitsuri just sat next to Rengoku, reassuring him with a bright smile since she thought that it was a lovely idea. "I'm sure you'd be a great teacher Kyojuro-sama!"
Muichiro and Giyu sat in silence, opting not to speak at all because Giyu had nothing to add and Muichiro would forget this conversation anyway. Sanemi found himself regretting the fact that he asked the question.
"I think it's... Quite an interesting idea." Gyomei nodded, addressing Rengoku as he rubbed the beads in his palm together.
After a while, it was silent and it almost made Rengoku regret even verbalizing his opinion. Key word, almost, he felt that the idea was great, after all, he was Mitsuri's mentor. Sure, she wasn't exactly his tsuguko, but still.
He'd probably learn some valuable things himself teaching someone else, Like Gyomei with Genya and Shinobu with Kanoe.
Shinobu cleared her throat, turning to face Rengoku with a small smile of her own before speaking. She refrained from asking the question that everybody wanted to know because she knew he meant well and that he would most likely be a good teacher.
But what in the world possessed Kyojuro Rengoku, the one and only flame Hashira, to bring a demon slayer under his wing?
"If you don't mind me asking, why did you decide that now would be a good time to teach someone?" Shinobu starts, trying to reason this new information from a tactical perspective. "I'm not saying you'd be a terrible teacher. I'm sure you'd do just fine, but let's think, what even prompted the thought?"
"Passion!"
"..."
"..."
"... What?"
"Kocho, you damn well know you heard what I said." Rengoku finally replied with some sass, no longer smiling and glaring at Shinobu.
Rengoku was royally pissed at everyone already and it made not only Uzui laugh but Sanemi as well.
"I mean, what does that mean?" She quietly asked, surprised that Rengoku suddenly looked so stern.
"The girl I want to take under my wing is a very passionate fighter, though I don't know her that well, I think it's a good idea if I train her well!"
Once again, silence, apart from Uzui's quiet snickering.
"You all seem to have a disagreement with my choice so just be honest and tell me." Rengoku deadpanned, getting a friendly pat on the back from Uzui before he opened his mouth.
"Now, no one's saying that it's a terrible idea, it's just that, training someone is a big responsibility along with your regular missions... It's kind of like adopting a child."
Rengoku just raised an eyebrow.
"What I mean is, it's annoyingly hard and sometimes... It's better if you just didn't." Uzui shrugged, going back to take a sip of his miso soup before he realized that Rengoku was still looking at him. "Okay dude, you act like a child and a child can't teach another child."
"I do not act like a child, I'm very well functioning when it comes to being an adult!" Rengoku yelled, reverting back to his loud self with a big fiery smile. If that was all he needed to worry about, he was fine.
