It was a warm, beautiful day.
Colle had found Seer almost instantly wandering the kingdom, and ended up dragging him along. He'd brought Seer with him to the meeting room- it wasn't out of the ordinary, the others were used to him- only for it to be empty.
Boss was there, cleaning up papers. He noticed the two in the doorway, standing there like props. He didn't say much, only telling Colle he could take today off. It felt incredibly abrupt. Enough to where Colle almost seemed upset he didn't have to work.
It made sense, he did spend plenty of time getting his outfit together every day.
"You've been working hard- all of you have. Please, take the time to rest today. Maybe tomorrow too."
"I don't- I'm doing alright! I don't need a break. Besides, I'm already all ready, so-"
"It's not just for you, Colle." Boss cut him off with a smile, exhaling as he spoke. He seemed slightly tense, but he always was, "All of you have a break. You've been running around nonstop. I understand you're very determined, but..."
His shoulders dropped a little bit as he sighed. The stacks of papers- some crinkled and old, and some with dust bunnies all over them- sagged a little in his hands.
"It's not just you, so don't feel singled out. Beef and Sharp are around the kingdom if you want to see them."
"And Spark?"
Boss shrugged. He was a new recruit, so he didn't know Spark as well as the others. The same applied to Spark- he spoke to Boss in a way that was almost painfully formal. It's not like the boy was always professional. According to Colle, Spark had been nothing but giddy when they first met.
"Spend your day with them, or with Seer. However you want." Boss was already turning back into the building, clearly having made up his mind.
Colle stood in the doorway for another minute, and slowly stepped out with a grumble. Seer followed closely after.
"What now?" Seer asked, leaning over to look at Colle better. He was grumbling about a few things, some little annoyances and grievances. As soon as Seer spoke, he went quiet and exhaled.
"I dunno. Maybe... hm." Even with a day off, Colle was antsy. He wanted to run off and explore something, even if it was small. The idea of just hanging out at the kingdom almost felt trapping, like keeping a bird in a cage.
Colle had stopped walking to think a bit on it, and Seer stood right behind him. He tilted his head back to look at him, then looked back out to the kingdom, rocking on his feet.
"There's that forest nearby... You wanna go look at it? We can come back here for food?"
"Yeah!" Seer perked up a little, his wings puffing out under his cloak, "We should make it there quickly, right?"
"Probably?" As Colle spoke, he turned his body to look at Seer and began making motions with his hands, "I can teleport us fairly close to it, and we can walk from there. Then I can teleport us back, and uhh..."
Quick thoughts of how the rest of the day would go went through Colle's mind. He debated about bringing Beef and Sharp, but they were already doing something. His thoughts slowly became little whispers and murmurs, barely audible to Seer.
"... You alright?"
"Oh. Yep, all good. I was just thinking."
"Okay." Seer didn't say anything else. He just stared. Colle sighed and tugged his arm a bit, pulling him closer.
