THE AIR SMELLS LIKE PINE TREES AND BROWN SUGAR.

I walked into this house about 10 minutes ago and Im seated at the dinner table with my future fiancée across from me wearing dress pants with a short sleeve dress top while Im wearing scrubs with a white long sleeve shirt underneath.

Nice.

To be completely fair- and honest, my fiancée isn't that bad. Sharp jawline, high cheekbones and a face that a modeling company would pay millions to have? I wouldn't mind having his kids.

"I take it you do nursing?"  My fiancée says.

"Am I that easy to read?" I say with a smile

"No but you're wearing scrubs and smell like lemons mixed with bleach."

Wow. Rude.

"Is that a bad thing?"

"It shows your hard work and dedication to your job so I wouldn't say so."

I take it back, God I could go down on this man right-

"Yet I think we would've enjoyed seeing you in something more presentable." My mother chimed in.

"Dont you agree?" She said as looking at my fiancée for validation

"Actually no disrespect ma'am but I think I enjoy seeing her in this more than any other outfit." He smiled at me and his dimples peeked through as if to say hello. And God strike me down if he smiles like that again. I smiled back. My mothers lips tightened a bit and her ears turned a light shade of pink.

I almost felt sorry for her embarrassment had it not been from trying to embarrass me.

"So Adryenne, I actually wanted to know why you were ign-"

My stomach growled interrupting him. I immediately held it and looked up in embarrassment.

My father and mother both looked at me with hardened faces. My fiancée made a slight coughing sound that sounded like he was holding back a laugh.

"Whens the last time you've eaten?" My father said in a stern tone

"Uhm.."I trailed off, I can either tell the truth and say yesterday or lie and say a few hours ago. But saying I ate a few hours ago when my stomach just growled like that? Thats not reasonable.

"I haven't eaten since yesterday." I said as my hand raised to scratch the back of my head.

"Well then why didn't you say so?" My father picked up his phone sent a text and within the next few minutes staff were bringing plates of food out. Pasta, Mashed potatoes, Breadsticks, and much more.
