Valeria's POV

"Alexandro, you better apologize right this instant! That was very rude and disrespectful. I will not tolerate that in my house. Do you understand?" I looked into my son's angry eyes.

"Sorry for calling you a dumbass. You shouldn't have taken my nugget, dumbass," Alex apologized.

Oh my goodness-

"Go to your room now. Think about what you did. I'm also taking your Ipad for a week," I pointed toward the stairs.

Alex got up, wiping his tears away. I looked at Kaitlyn who was still in shock.

"Was that too harsh?" I asked, regretting what just happened.

"No, not at all, love. What he said was wrong and he said it twice, proving that he didn't learn anything," Kaitlyn reasoned.

I guess she's right. I'm so lucky to have her.

A week later

"Have a good day!" I said to the customer as I handed them their receipt.

The lady smiled and grabbed the last of her groceries from the counter.

Just 15 more minutes-

A day after my interview with the principals, I had another one for Walmart. I was hired on the spot with no questions asked.

This is the second time this has happened to me-

"Did you find everything alright?" I asked the person before looking up.

What the fuck-

"Melissa?" I looked at my sister for a moment.

Her hair was straightened with blonde highlights. She looked thinner than she was the last time I'd seen her. She had a black eye with skin as thin as paper. From my view, her face looked wrinkled.

"What are you on?" I asked, concerned about her health.

"Is that supposed to be some joke?" Melissa scoffed.

Not really-

"No, you look like you're on drugs," I said, not sugar-coating anything.

"I had Botox done," she pulled out her card.

Girl please-

"Alright, your total is $26.99," I said, looking around.

"Would you quit doing that? Like, honestly it's annoying," Melissa rolled her eyes and snatched her receipt from my hand.

"Have a bad day," I whispered.

I took a deep breath before turning back around to ring up my last customer.

"Long time no see," I heard coming from the customer.

I looked at the person to see one of my old high school friends.

Madison.

The last time I saw her, she had braces. Now, they were nowhere to be found. Her hair has been dyed a light brown color.

Back in high school, she would always dress like a tomboy, but now, she was nicely dressed in khaki cargo pants with a white crop top.

"How's it going?" I asked, admiring her.

"Oh, I have a spoiled kid back home that I'm currently raising by myself. But you know, other than that, I'm fine," she gave me a smile that brought back old memories.

You see, Madison and I were good friends. We even dated for a minute but ended it because of the drama surrounding us.

I have a pattern.
