A start of something

(Sorry for the irregular updates. I'm currently preparing for my practicals while also trying to enjoy my vacations so I'm guilty of neglecting this novel. Also, this is my first time posting something so I'm not used to it yet. Today I heard my mom complain about authors who upload a story without updating for weeks and felt it as a personal blow, so I'll try to update regularly.)

The next morning, Felix woke up earlier than usual and left Hyunjin alone in the room to get some fresh air.

As Felix entered the kitchen, intending to escape from his turbulent emotions, he was surprised to find Lee Know already there, tending to breakfast preparations. Lee Know glanced up, his observant eyes noticing the hint of unease on Felix's face.

"Good morning, Lix, you're up early. How did you sleep last night?"

Felix hesitated momentarily, contemplating whether to keep his feelings to himself. However, his emotions became too much to bear in solitude. He took a deep breath and spoke softly, "It was... okay, I guess. I just had trouble sleeping."

He offered a weak smile, not revealing the depth of his turmoil. Lee Know nodded, sensing there was more beneath the surface.

"You know, sometimes a good breakfast can soothe even the heaviest thoughts. Why don't you sit down, and we can chat while I finish up?"

Felix managed a small nod and took a seat at the table. The comforting rhythm of Lee Know's cooking and the familiar scent of breakfast permeated the air, providing a temporary distraction from his inner turmoil. Yet as he sat there, his gaze involuntarily shifted toward the door, waiting anxiously for the others to join them. He anticipated their company and dreaded it at the same time, knowing that each interaction would bring a fresh wave of emotions.

Finally, Felix spoke up in a tiny, soft voice. "I feel so horrible Hyung."

Lee Know, sensing the weight of Felix's words, put down what he was doing and turned towards him, his tone gentle, "What's wrong, Lix? Why do you feel horrible?" He crossed his arms, leaning against the countertop, ready to lend a listening ear and offer comfort if needed.

"I know I should feel content that everyone accepts me and has forgiven me for my stupidity. Even Hyunjin accepted me and it's like he is still as we used to be a month before but I hate that I don't want it to be the same anymore. I don't think I want Hyunjin to be my friend anymore hyung.", Felix was letting his intrusive thoughts out, not noticing a certain someone who had woken up in his absence coming out of the room.

Leeknow's expression turned somber as he listened to Felix's confession, filled with regret and pain. However, his attention was caught by a sudden closing of the door. Leeknow's gaze shifted toward the hallway, a flicker of concern in his eyes, "Was that Hyunjin?"

Felix had completely forgotten that Hyunjin was in their dorm and panicked when he realized that Hyunjin might have heard his conversation. He ran back to his room, dreading the confrontation but knew he had to do everything to save his friendship.

As Felix flung open the bedroom door, he found Hyunjin standing there, a mixture of hurt and confusion etched on his face. The weight of their unspoken emotions hovered heavily in the air.

"Hyunnie...", Felix started but didn't know what to say. He had promised Hyunjin that his feelings wouldn't come between them and things would go back to normal but he had ruined that.

Hyunjin, struggling to process his whirlwind of emotions, managed a small, forced smile.

"Hey, Lixie.", His voice betrayed a hint of hurt beneath the casual greeting, and he took a step back, creating a physical distance between them, "Did you need something?"
