## A Quiet AfternoonFriday Barnes sat at her usual table in the library, surrounded by a fortress of books. The familiar scent of old paper and the soft hum of the air conditioner created the perfect atmosphere for her to dive into her latest mystery. She adjusted her glasses and scribbled a few notes in her notebook, her mind completely absorbed in the puzzle at hand.
"Hey, Sherlock," a voice interrupted her thoughts.
She looked up to see Ian Wainscott leaning against the bookshelf, a playful smirk on his face. He was holding a book in his hand, but his eyes were fixed on her.
"Ian," she acknowledged, trying to hide the smile tugging at her lips. "What brings you to my sanctuary?"
He shrugged and sat down opposite her. "Thought I'd check out the latest edition of 'How to Annoy a Detective.' Heard it's a real page-turner."
Friday rolled her eyes, but her amusement was evident. "Very funny. What do you actually want?"
Ian leaned forward, his expression turning serious. "I need your help with something. It's kind of important."
Friday raised an eyebrow. "Important? What kind of trouble have you gotten yourself into this time?"
He sighed. "It's not me, it's my brother, Drake. He's been acting weird lately, sneaking around and lying about where he's been. I think he might be in some kind of trouble, but he won't talk to me about it."
Friday's detective instincts kicked in. She closed her notebook and gave Ian her full attention. "Tell me everything you know."
Ian explained the situation, detailing Drake's suspicious behavior over the past few weeks. Friday listened intently, jotting down notes and asking questions.
"Okay," she said finally. "We'll need to gather more information. Does Drake have any close friends we can talk to?"
Ian nodded. "Yeah, there's Susan. They've been friends since forever. She might know something."
Friday stood up, determination in her eyes. "Let's go find Susan. The sooner we figure this out, the better."

They found Susan in the cafeteria, sitting alone with a book. She looked up as they approached and smiled.
"Hey, Ian. Friday," she greeted. "What's up?"
Ian glanced at Friday, who took the lead. "Susan, we need to ask you about Drake. Ian mentioned he's been acting strangely, and we're worried about him. Do you know anything that might help us?"
Susan's smile faded, and she looked down at her hands. "I've noticed it too," she admitted. "He's been distant, and he's always on his phone, texting someone. When I asked him about it, he just brushed me off."
Friday frowned. "Do you have any idea who he might be texting? Any names or clues?"Susan shook her head. "No, but I did see him meeting someone behind the gym after school last week. I didn't get a good look at the person, though."
"That's a start," Friday said. "Thank you, Susan."

After school, Friday and Ian headed to the gym. They waited in the shadows, watching for any signs of Drake. It wasn't long before they saw him, nervously glancing around before meeting a tall figure in a hoodie.
"Stay here," Friday whispered to Ian. "I'm going to get closer."
She crept forward, her footsteps silent. She could hear snippets of the conversation, but the voices were too low to make out clearly. Determined to get more information, she moved closer, accidentally stepping on a twig.
The snap was loud in the silence, and the figure in the hoodie turned abruptly. Drake looked panicked when he saw Friday.
"Friday, what are you doing here?" he hissed.
The hooded figure took off running, and Friday chased after them, her heart pounding. She was fast, but the figure was faster. Just as she thought she was going to lose them, Ian appeared out of nowhere, tackling the person to the ground.
"Gotcha," Ian said, holding the figure down.
Friday caught up, panting. She pulled the hood back to reveal... Rajiv, one of their classmates.
"Rajiv?" she exclaimed. "What are you doing?"
Rajiv glared at them. "None of your business. Let me go!"
"Not until you tell us what's going on," Ian demanded.
Rajiv sighed, realizing he was caught. "Fine. Drake owes me money. He borrowed it a while ago, and I've been pressuring him to pay it back. He didn't want anyone to know, especially you, Ian."
Ian's expression softened. "Drake, why didn't you just tell me?"
Drake looked ashamed. "I didn't want to disappoint you. You've always looked out for me, and I didn't want to be a burden."
Ian helped Rajiv up and turned to Drake. "You could never be a burden. We're family, and family sticks together. We'll figure this out."
Friday watched the scene unfold, a small smile on her face. She knew Ian and Drake would be okay. They had each other, and with a little help from their friends, they could get through anything.

Later that evening, as they walked back to their dorms, Ian turned to Friday. "Thanks for your help today, Sherlock. I don't know what I would've done without you."
Friday shrugged. "That's what friends are for. Besides, it was an interesting case."
Ian smiled. "You know, you really are amazing."
Friday blushed, looking away. "You're not so bad yourself, Wainscott."
As they parted ways, Friday couldn't help but feel a warmth in her chest. She knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, she and Ian would face them together.
