In some cases, friendships between two people with the opposite gender ends with one person falling for the other. Y/n was a firm believer they wouldn't turn out that way, until a year into the friendship they formed with Satoru Gojo.
It doesn't take a genius to know that they have, in fact, fallen for the ethereal man. His lovely personally made it easier to love him more. How am I not supposed to fall in love with this guy when he acts like a suitor? Y/n often thinks to themselves.
Are we actually only bestfriends when we call each other cute nicknames, hold each other's hands in public, cuddle, sleep in one bed, and look at each other lovingly?
Is what always goes on in Y/n's mind everytime Gojo looks at them in the eyes with so much fondness. Y/n often brushes off Gojo's actions as him being himself; that there's no hidden meanings behind it, that he's just being a good person. That they might just have to force those feelings to go away as to not ruin the friendship.
Then their 22nd birthday came, and it changed the whole trajectory of their life.
At exactly midnight, Satoru Gojo practically barged into their apartment with a whole cake in hand that he personally baked.
"Happy birthday,beautiful" he greets while placing the cake down on the kitchen counter to hug Y/n. "You didn't need to do all this, y'know?" they chuckled, returning the gesture. "Well I wanted to" he grins.
Gojo hugged Y/n tighter for a split second before pulling away and running his hand through his dishieveled white hair "sorry I didn't know what gift to give you, but atleast you have me"

After a short friendly banter, Gojo lit up the candles using a lighter he stole from a friend, before singing Y/n happy birthday softly. While he did so, Y/n closed their eyes and made a wish.
