Day 3: Write a scene with your favorite song in the background.
Again, unexpectedly, we found ourselves in the same position as we had yesterday and the day before that. Feeling bold, I turned off the television. Mint stared at me with big fragile eyes, and that made me even braver.
I plugged in my iPod on the stereo dock and picked a random song.
I walked up to Mint and offered my hand to her, hoping that she would take it, because honestly, I did not know how I might cope with her rejection.
"I never really got the chance to take you to the school dance," I said quietly, "Will you give me this one dance?"
She didn't say anything. She didn't smile. She didn't even nod.
Mint just took my hand and stood up. She put a hand on my shoulder lightly, while I held her other hand. It was not intimate, very formal in fact, but it was more than I can ever hope for.

We moved slowly, listening to the music. She wouldn't look at me, but instead she looked everywhere else. I found myself studying her face.

I always played it safe. I always did what I was supposed to do. I was even good at hiding all of it, hiding my secrets, hiding the real me.
