“We don't 'get over' or 'move on' from our trauma. We are forced to make space for it. We carry it. We learn to live with it. And, sometimes we thrive in spite of it”
I look over at Diya's sleeping face and feel torn, over whether I should leave her to go kill Kyle now.
She's sleeping right now and if I leave now I might be back before she wakes up but what if I don't make it back in time and I'm still not here when she wakes up?
I could wait until she wakes up and tell her I have to go back to the hotel to get a few things.
I really don't want her to wake up and think I left her, especially not when she woke up this morning and was surprised that I still stayed with her.
I look over at Elijah who has finally abandoned his vending machine haul and is now on his laptop, working on a new case.
It still surprises me how he can go from acting like an immature 5 year old to turning back into a responsible adult again.
Alonzo has gone to talk to Dr Kitt about transferring Diya's medical files to him.
I sigh as I make up my mind on what to do.
"Elijah, where's Kyle being held right now?", I ask as I tamp down my fury enough to form a plan.
"He's in Miami police custody right now. I don't know where exactly they're holding him though. I can find out if you want but what are you going to do?", Elijah asks looking at me cautiously.
"The same thing you would do if someone beat up your sister", I reply, knowing that Elijah can't disagree with me when I put it like that.
Although, Elijah may act carefree and goofy at times he is also deceptively intelligent which not a lot of people tend to notice.
People instead only see him for his pretty boy looks and goofy attitude which hides the simmering darkness inside of him effectively.
His parents both died and from what I can gather, they weren't on track to winning the best parents of the year award.
Quite the opposite, actually.
His sister, however, is alive and Elijah guards her like a princess, scaring off any man who even shows the slightest interest in her.
She currently goes to Boston University and is studying to become a social worker.
"Sandro, you need to think about this. You need a cover story for his death and we need to make sure the media don't get involved. We also need the police department's cooperation", Elijah says.
"Have you got any contacts in the Miami police department?", I ask.
"No, but I'm sure one of my contacts will know someone in the Miami PD", Elijah replies.
I sigh as I consider the few options we have.
"Does the bastard have a lawyer?", I ask as a devious plan forms in my head.
"Yeah, he works at a local law firm", Elijah replies.
"If Kyle got into a physical altercation with another inmate and feels threatened, can the lawyer request that Kyle be moved somewhere else?", I ask.
"Yes, if he can convince the judge that his client's safety is threatened", Elijah replies, still not understanding my plan.
"When they transport Kyle to another facility, how hard will it be to grab him?", I ask.
