Chapter 1

*So make your jokes

Go for broke

Blow your smoke

You're not alone

But who's laughing now*

Who's laughing now by Jessie J played as my alarm. My little sister beside me stirred and tighten her hold around my waist. I grab my iPhone, and checked the time. It was now 7 am, and I gently got out of Isabelle's grip and dressed up for the day. I was clothed in cross printed leggings, a 'love' neck t-shirt and then, I put on some white socks. I gently woke Belle up and told her to get ready as I make breakfast.

As for breakfast, I made some pancakes and bacon. I put two pancakes on a plate and drew happy faces with the maple syrup. And then, I placed the two bacons on each pancake, making it look like hair of the smileys. I wanted my sister to have a happy morning. My little sister came into the kitchen with a grin plastered on her face seeing the pancakes and bacon on the table. She started devouring her breakfast as I did too. My little sister sure did know how to dress up. She was dressed in a cute blue dress and a white cardigan over it and she had w

Small white socks. Isabelle's hair was naturally brown, while mine was black. She had small waves while I had big ones. As we finished our breakfast, we brushed our teethes together and we left the apartment.

We walked to her day-care, and it took about thirty minutes. It was now 8 am and I had to be at work in ten minutes... Oh dang, gotta take the bus real fast. I ran to catch my bus and the driver just smirked, knowing how I was always late. As soon as I got to the coffee shop, I dashed into the place and threw my bag behind the counter and put on my apron. I tied my hair in a messy bun and went behind the cash register. "Hello, how may I help you today?" I asked the man in a business suit and he simply ordered a latte.

I went to make the coffee and Elizabeth bumped my hip and smirked, "Late again, Katz." I playfully glared at her and she just laughed as I continued making the coffee. I gave the man his order and a blonde headed lady came next, her head bowed down, probably looking for some cash.

"Hello, how may I help you today?" Saying my overused line in work. The lady's head suddenly retrieved from looking in her purse and her blue eyes widen as she saw me... Liz. "Wait, what are you doing?" She exclaimed surprisingly.

Oops, I'm caught red handed... "Doing my job...?" I said and winced at her shocked expression. Her surprised face was no longer present, and was replaced with an angry one.

"But you're supposed to be at school! You know how education is really important, and you're not supposed to be working yet! You-" She started ranting but I cut her off.

"Just give me your order, so we'll talk about it later... Elizabeth! Can you take my position for a while?" I said and Liz ordered and I quickly did it and we went out. Liz was walking to this place, I don't know where, but I just followed her. We reached this ice cream shop and she led me to a seat.

"Now, explain." Liz ordered severely. I chuckled, because I'm not used to this kind of Liz. She pointed her finger at me, and I started explaining.

Half an hour later, I finished telling Liz about everything. From a very happy family, to a sad one. From having a big house, to a small apartment and how I dropped out of school to work and have to take online classes. At the end, Liz had tears falling from her eyes.

"Honestly, it's fine. You can fire me. I can just look for another-" I started saying but she interrupted me.

"I'm not firing you. Instead, I want you to work with us in the morning, every weekday. And then, you can go to Starbucks and continue your job in the afternoon. And you'll still do the VJ junior Friday." She told me and I started squealing.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you sooo much!" I chanted and jumped around and hugged her. She laughed, and brought me back to the coffee shop.

"And don't forget, it's VJ junior Friday tomorrow! And in the morning too, you'll be hosting with us. Don't forget to study this evening!" She said and bid farewell.

"I won't forget, mom!" I bid her farewell and returned working in the coffee shop. I told Elizabeth about the good news, and convinced our boss to change my shift hours.

Oh, life's good.
