Minnie went home that night feeling inspired by the events of the day, particularly the interaction between Kai and Liam. She was so lost in her thoughts that she almost forgot about the new episode of her favorite K-drama, "The Prince Seoul in Love." Minnie hurriedly baked a pizza and grabbed a two-liter bottle of Coke, ready for the highly anticipated finale. The plot revolves around a girl transported back in time who has to pretend to be male to survive, eventually leading to the Prince falling in love with her. Minnie had been eagerly awaiting this episode all week.
By the end of the show, Minnie's heart was shattered. The Prince sacrificed himself in battle, and the female lead never knew his true feelings. Devastated, Minnie turned to the online forums to see what others said about the heartbreaking finale. To her horror, she saw in big red letters: "The Male Lead of 'The Prince Seoul in Love' has passed away due to heart failure."
Minnie's world came crashing down. Unable to handle the pain, she curled up in her bed, sobbing uncontrollably. Her phone rang. Noah was also calling to check on her after seeing the news. Too broken to answer, Minnie let the call go to voicemail and shut herself in her room for the entire weekend.
Monday morning arrived, and Minnie's mother grew concerned when she didn't come out for breakfast. She sent Minnie's younger brother to wake her up. He opened her bedroom door to find a mess-old food containers, unwashed laundry, and an overwhelming smell. He approached Minnie, who was still in bed and gently shook her awake. When she finally emerged from beneath her covers, her eyes were bloodshot, with dark circles under them, and she looked like she hadn't eaten in days.
"Mom! Minnie looks like a zombie!" her brother screamed in shock.
Minnie's mother rushed to the room and took in her daughter's pitiful state. "Minnie, you do look horrible. Take the day off, but you must wash up," she said gently.
Through tears, Minnie explained to her mother about the death of the K-drama actor and how it had devastated her. To ease her daughter's pain, Minnie's mother suggested, "How about we get you out of the house and take you for a haircut? You haven't bathed in days, your hair is in knots, and I didn't realize you were prone to zits. Your face is covered in them."
Reluctantly, Minnie agreed. The prospect of a self-care day and spending time with her mother seemed a good distraction. They headed to the skin doctor, where Minnie received a much-needed skincare treatment. The transformation made her feel significantly better. "See? Everyone needs a self-care day," her mother said, smiling.
Next, they stopped by a beauty store with a special on free makeup tutorials. College students were there, practicing their skills with customers. Minnie's mother encouraged her to try it out. "Trust me, it'll make you feel better," she insisted.
Pleasing her mother, Minnie sat down for a free makeover. The student working on her was enthusiastic. "OMG, you are so cute!" she exclaimed when she was finished.
Minnie's mother came over to see the reveal and agreed: "You look amazing, Minnie!" Her eyes brightened with the new makeup, making her look like a whole new person. So impressed was she that her mother bought the entire makeup kit.
The student beamed. "Follow everything I showed you, and you won't go wrong."
Filled with the results, Minnie's mother decided to give Minnie a new haircut as well. The stylist made sure it was easy to maintain. "Just add these curlers in overnight and brush it out in the morning, and your hair will always be perfect," she advised.
But her mother didn't stop there. "We have to get you a new wardrobe to go with the new look," she declared. They spent the rest of the day trying on outfits. By the end of the day, Minnie was exhausted but happy. She hadn't spent such quality time with her mother in ages.
That night, Minnie was amazed as she washed off her makeup and looked at herself in the mirror. "Oh wow, Mom was right. I don't look like myself, and wow, am I cute," she thought, her new confidence shining through.
The following day, Minnie couldn't wait to go to school with her new look. She felt a renewed sense of self, ready to face the world with her new confidence. As she prepared for bed, she smiled, knowing that sometimes, a little self-care can make all the difference.
