Leo:

Can't quite pinpoint when I started feeling this way. Woke up on a crisp, clear morning, half excited, half nervous. Today marked the start of my college adventure-full of new faces, friendships, and challenges.

My drive to campus? A blur. Thoughts and emotions swirling around. Got to the university gates and it hit me-this was real. Kids were everywhere, lugging around backpacks and books. I parked, took a deep breath, and stepped out, soaking up the newness.

First stop? Orientation session. The auditorium buzzed with fresh faces just like mine. Snagged a seat and looked around-wondering who would end up being my pals. The dean kicked things off. His speech? Inspiring. He spoke about the journey ahead-learning, exploring, making the most of everything.

First lecture didn't disappoint. Engaging, it sparked curiosity and excitement. I scribbled notes like mad, eager to soak it all up. Lecture over, the prof encouraged us to form study groups. Swapped info with some folks, relieved to make connections.

Lunchtime was its own adventure. Chose a window seat in the packed cafeteria, couldn't help but watch the campus life play out.

Mid-bite, a commotion caught my eye. Two students in the thick of it-a tall guy with messy hair and a heated look, arguing with a shorter, stockier one. Tensions flew high as their voices cut through the buzz.

"How could you even say that?" shouted the tall guy, filled with emotion. "Because it's true and you KNOW it!" fired back the other. People gathered, whispers of concern spread. Some tried calming things down, others just watched.

You could cut the tension with a knife. The tall guy's buddy, curly-haired and worried, tried pulling him away. "Come on, it's not worth it," he urged.

Cafeteria staff and security zipped over to cool things down. They managed pretty well. "Alright, break it up," said a guard calmly, pulling them apart.

Tall guy cooled down, trying to catch his breath. The other guy shot a glare, turned, and stormed off, mumbling something.

Back to my sandwich, I turned to the guy next to me-a friendly face buried in an astrophysics book. Had to know what sparked the drama.

"Do you know what that was all about?" I asked, nodding towards where the crowd had been.

"Yeah," he sighed, looking up. "That's Wai. Known hothead, but there's more to it."

"Oh?" I leaned in, curious.

"Wai's a sophomore, super rich, kinda spoiled. The other guy, Beer, used to be his friend. They've had issues because of Wai's attitude and how he treats people," he explained.

"Fight often?" I wondered.

"Not usually. They avoid each other. But sometimes, things get heated. Wai's not all bad, though. It's just his background & inability to get others," he added.

"No problem. I'm Jay, by the way," he smiled.

"Leo," I replied, shaking his hand. "Nice to meet you."

We then chatted about lighter stuff-classes, campus life, favourite hangouts.

Back in my dorm, I replayed the day's events. Especially the cafeteria showdown. Despite Wai being labelled as privileged, something about him intrigued me. My mind kept returning to the confrontation, wondering about the real deal between him and Beer. Flopped on my bed, staring at the ceiling, one question kept spinning in my head. "What exactly went down between those two?"
