"Where is she, where is my love?" Winter demanded the second he was through the front door, looking in every possible direction. "Where is she!"
Marjorie held out both her hands to get him to slow down, the last thing any of them needed was anymore overwhelm, "She's upstairs, in the bathroom, but Winter listen to me first,"
Winter didn't want to wait and listen, the only thought on his mind was to get to Autumn, whatever condition he may find her in. "Let me go to her, you said she needs me,"
"I did, I did say that. She does need you, but she also needs you to listen to me first," Marjorie moved to physically block him from going up the stairs, she could not have him going into this without knowing what to expect. "Just half a second and you can go right up to her,"
Winter was entirely unsure but stopped moving to get up the stairs, but kept his eyes glued to the top of them as if expecting Autumn to appear. "What is it?" he wasn't rude, but it was clear standing there and talking to Marjorie as just about the last thing he wanted to be doing.
"I- I was cleaning the bathroom," she didn't know how to say the words without them hurting, "And I found. Winter, I found your baby,"
Winter froze, blood draining from his face, swaying slightly. "You- you found our baby? I knew Aut passed tissue, but I didn't- I didn't think they were big enough yet,"
"She's small, but she's a baby. Autumn is upstairs with her now," Marjorie stepped aside, expecting Winter to dash up the stairs like he had been trying to do only moments ago.
"Her?" Winter questions, it was much too early to know gender- that was one of the things he had looked forward to the most, finding out if he was having a little girl or a little boy.
"That's what's Autumn's been saying- I don't- I don't know," Marjorie had no explanation, but she didn't need one. She could never fully understand what Winter and Autumn were going through, and if that meant doing some things that didn't make sense to her- she would do her very best.
"She," Winter said, but it was no longer a question, just the accepting of the fact. "You said she was in the bathroom?"
Marjorie nodded, hanging back several moments allowing Winter to walk in front of her on the steps.
Winter walked much slower now, a sort of somberness to his stride. He knew exactly what he would be walking into, and truth be told, he wasn't sure he could do it. With every step it felt as if his legs were slowly being blocks of cement, his brain screaming at him to stop moving, to turn back and leave. But he could, he would never do that to Autumn, no matter how much he wanted to run away of the two of them were in it together, he wouldn't leave her- he would never leave her.
All the doors were open as he approached his bedroom, giving him a view of Autumn before she ever noticed him. She sat against the cabinets in the bathroom, having given up on not getting blood on her clothes, Winter couldn't see what was cradled in her hand, but he knew exactly what it was- rather who it was.
"Autumn," it was rare they used each other's first names, but that's what felt right for this situation.
He watched her take a deep breath before slowly turning her head to meet his eyes. She opened her mouth to speak, but no words would come out, sobs in their places.
Winter rushed forward, dropping to the floor next to his love, doing his best to not look at the blood that coated the floor around them.
Autumn shakily held out her hands, cradling the fetus. Urging Winter to take her from her.
