                              Young Nat's pov

As the clock strikes 6:00am I hear my alarm go off. This causes me to wake up and turn it off. As I'm waking up I hear my mum call my name "Nat get up your going to be late for school". Great I have to go to school. I've never been a fan of school. Yes, I get good grades but not by choice. My mum is very strict and if I don't get good grades I'm not aloud many privileges. I shout back " Coming mum". I quickly get dressed into my uniform and straighten my brunette hair. I swiftly grab my school bag and head downstairs. "Nat you need to start taking school more seriously". "Yes mum I know, don't take school seriously you won't succeed". That's something I've heard ever since I could remember. My mum didn't do great in school so she wants me to succeed. She wants me to become a doctor, though I have no fancy in becoming one. What I really want to do is race I've always been told no since it's to risky. " Come on Nat we need to leave". As I follow my mum to the car I grab my headphones from my bag. I connect them to my phone and put on Afraid by the neighborhood. Of course my mum doesn't believe I would ever succeed in racing so she barely takes me karting. I've been trying to convince her to let me go more so I have a chance to make it big time. "Hey mum can I pleaseee go to the track today. I really think if you let me try I can go somewhere with racing". I say to my mum in a pleading tone. " You know how I feel about you racing Nat it's not safe". "But please mum just one chance to show that I'm good enough". I cross my fingers in hope of her saying yes. " Fine Natalie but one chance only, know get to class". I hadn't even realized we had arrived. I was to thrilled to pay attention in class today. I'm to busy thinking about karting, I finally get a chance to prove myself. My friend Maggie could tell I was thinking about something. " Ok what's up you've been fidgeting for 3 periods what are you thinking about"? She finally asks. " I'm sorry I didn't mean to distract you, it's just my mum said yes to karting".  Her jaw drops " Oh my god Nat I'm so happy for you, but you better show them what you got girl". Shes always been my number one supporter. I can always depend on Maggie to cover for me when I sneak of to the track to watch races. She's been my friend for a very long time. We've grown close enough to be family over the years. Right as I'm about to speak the bell rings to go to the next class. Of course it's the class I don't have with Maggie. As the other students get up I say " I'll call you after to tell you how it goes". "You better" Maggie basically yells. After that class the day went by in a blur. Soon enough the last bell of the day is ringing. I get up and head for the exit. As Im walking I bump into someone causing me to stubble around. " oh Im sorry I didn't see you there" . I say before looking at the person. Which I regretted right after. As I look at the boy who was stood next to me it was my bully. Lando had always had it out for me. He races and is always bugging me saying how girls will never make it. And that I should just give up now. I wasn't ready to see him yet. I was hoping to only see him at the track. "Oh look who it is little Natalie who thinks she going to be a racer" he says in a mocking tone. I lower my head not wanting to deal with him today. " Oh is someone to scared to speak up now"? I want to stand up for myself but I just can't. I just let him bully me. He scoffs and laughs with his friends as he walks out of the room. I let out a sigh of relief that he has gone. I fix myself up before walking to the car where my mum is waiting. More like run. As I get in the car I see my gear already in the back seat. "Nat I don't have time to stay at the track so I'll only be dropping you off here's your stuff". As she's talking I feel a wave of sadness go over me. Shes never stayed to watch me race she always has to be somewhere when I race. "Ok that's fine mum" I'm used to it by now. As I get out of the car I already hear lando and his friends laughing. "Does a girl really think she's gonna win" they say laughing. I have to prove them wrong.
As I'm getting in my kart to head out to the track lando walks by and laughs "Good luck your gonna need it". I don't give the effort to reply. As I watch him get into his kart. I put my helmet on and hop in. I start to drive to P4 where I had landed after qualifying. Right behind one of Landos minions. I wait for the flag to drop. As soon as the flags down I race to pass the person in front of me I'm able to pass him by turn 3. Within the next few laps I'm able to put myself up to P2 right behind lando. I'm putting a lot of pressure on him just waiting for him to make a mistake. As we go into turn 6 he goes just a little bit to wide. I take my shot and slip right past him. As I pass him I can see him hit his steering wheel in frustration. I continue to lead for the rest of the race. As I see the checkered flag I let out a yell of joy. I've just won and beat the boys that said girls can't race. I was filled with joy. After the race as I'm getting ready to leave a man comes up to me. "Hello I watched your race earlier and man can you drive". " Oh thank you so much". I say surprised. "Here take my card, I'm interested in seeing you race again maybe even to start coaching you." I couldn't get any words to come out as he starts to leave. I stand there in disbelief that I just got an offer. I jump up in down in joy as I see my mums car pull into the parking lot. I can't wait to see her reaction to this.
