Author's POV:
Rishabh watched as Anvesha hurriedly slipped past him and out the door, shaking his head with a mix of amusement and frustration.
“You’re not getting away that easily, Anvesha,” he muttered to himself.
He decided to follow her, but as he turned the corner, he saw her mingling with the rest of the group. Anvesha had successfully blended back into her circle of friends, looking more relaxed.
Swapnil and Kushagra were still chatting, their laughter filling the air. Rishabh walked up to them, catching the tail end of their conversation.
“... so, basically, if you’re not careful, you’ll end up like Swapnil here, always running from one awkward situation to another,” Kushagra said with a smirk.
Swapnil, still chuckling, added, “Hey, I’m not the only one with a talent for awkwardness. Remember the time Rishabh tried to impress everyone with his dance moves?”
Rishabh groaned
“Let’s not dig up ancient history. Some of us prefer to leave embarrassing moments in the past.”“Sure, sure,” Kushagra teased. “But your moves were so bad, they’re practically legendary.”
“Enough about me,” Rishabh said, trying to steer the conversation away from his own mishaps. “What’s this about Ahaan and Ira?”
Kushagra sighed. “Ira’s been set on marrying Ahaan for ages. We were just having a bit of fun teasing her, but it seems she’s serious.”
“I’d be more worried if Ahaan wasn’t so level-headed,” Swapnil said with a laugh. “I’m sure he’ll handle it.”
They continued their conversation...
Anvesha's POV:
I walked away from Rishabh, muttering to myself,
"I didn’t run away because I was nervous; it’s just that his presence is like a constant buffering symbol—annoying and never-ending."I found my friends gathered at the food table.
“I’m starving guys,” I said, slipping my arms around Malvi and Sara like I was trying to hold onto a lifeline.“The feeling is mutual, Miss Perpetual Drama,” Ira said with a wink.
“Let’s rescue ourselves from starvation before we start plotting a heist on the buffet.”
As we made our way to the spread, Sara grinned.
“Did you hear? Malvi’s been sharing her ultimate food hacks.”Malvi puffed out her chest proudly. “Yup, microwave chef extraordinaire right here. I’ve revolutionized lazy cooking.”
Ira raised an eyebrow. “Oh really? So, what’s the secret? Make a five-star meal in 5 minutes?”
“More like make a five-minute meal taste like it’s been made in five seconds,” Malvi quipped, causing everyone to burst into laughter.
Sara nudged me, “You should definitely try Malvi’s special recipe: Instant Maggi with a side of ‘why didn’t I order pizza?’”
I laughed.
“Sounds like a plan. Next, she’ll be teaching us how to make fanta chai .”
As we piled our plates high, Malvi continued her food hack tutorial, “Rule number one: If the food’s not ready in ten minutes, it’s not worth eating.”
We all chuckled, the earlier tension replaced by the joy of good food and great company.
We dug into our plates, and Malvi started detailing her latest culinary masterpiece.
“You know, I once made a biryani that even the kitchen cat wanted a taste.”
“Biryani for the cat? Now that’s a new level of desperation!” Sara joked.
Ira chimed in, “I bet the cat has a better palate than most of us.”
“True,” Malvi said with a grin. “At least it didn’t complain about the lack of ‘salt’—aka my attempt was to make my family eat healthy, sodium intake is not good .”
We all laughed
We all laughed, and I added, “Seriously, though, Malvi, your cooking tips should come with a disclaimer: ‘If you wanna die only.’”
“Agreed,” Ira said. “Next time, I’ll be sure to take a picture of the ‘gourmet’ meal and send it to my mom with the caption, ‘Teaching my kids the art of survival.’”
“And let’s not forget the best tip,” Sara said. “If it doesn’t look Instagram-worthy, just say it’s ‘deconstructed.’”
We all burst into laughter again. Malvi playfully nudged me. “Hey, I’m taking your criticism as a compliment. My food is an acquired taste—like an old Bollywood film.”
I grinned. “In that case, I’ll be a lifelong fan. Just promise me no more ‘secret’ ingredients next time. My taste buds are still recovering.”
As we continued eating and joking, the atmosphere was light and filled with the easy camaraderie of friends who could turn any moment into a hilarious memory.
As we continued munching on our food, the conversation turned towards the brothers.
Sara, grinning, said, “So, where are Rishabh and his brothers? I hope they’re not causing too much chaos somewhere.”
“Rishabh is probably finding new ways to tease me,” I replied with a playful roll of my eyes. “He has a sixth sense for annoying me.”
“Kushagra as well” Malvi said. “he hid my phone and then acted like he was helping me look for it.”
We laughed
“Classic Rishabh and Kushagra bhai,” Ira agreed.
“But don’t be surprised if Kushagra bhai shows up with one of his motivational speeches. He’s always ready to drop some ‘wisdom.’”
“And Swapnil,” Sara added with a wink, “will probably make a grand entrance with some smooth lines. He’s like the ‘flirt-master’ of the family.”
Just as if on cue, Swapnil walked in, looking mischievous.
“Well, well, if it isn’t my favorite group of troublemakers. Missing me already?”
Sara shot him a mock glare
“Speak of the devil. We were just discussing your legendary flirting skills.”Swapnil chuckled
“I’m flattered. And don’t worry, I’ve kept my antics to a minimum today. Mostly.”A moment later, Kushagra appeared with a confident stride.
“Ah, I see the gang’s all here. Just thought I’d drop in with some ‘life wisdom.’”“Oh boy,” Malvika said with a laugh.
“Prepare for a philosophical lecture from Mr. Wisdom.”Kushagra gave a mock serious nod
“Remember, folks, life is like a plate of food. It’s not always perfect, but it’s up to you to make the most of it.”Before anyone could respond, Swapnil walked in with a charming grin, catching Sara’s eye.
“Well, if it isn’t the stunning Sara and her equally fabulous friends. Care to join me for a dance later?”Sara blushed slightly but smiled. “Swapnil, you’re such a flirt”
As the brothers mingled with us, the evening continued with laughter, playful banter, and the kind of friendly teasing that made every moment enjoyable.
The party came to an end with me ignoring Rishabh's intense gaze on me.
