There was an iridescence to Argenta's sword that was not there before. The blade seemed to shine without the need of light, almost giving a hint of a red aura, as if the weapon was now alive. Argenta smiled, pleased with the enhanced power of the dragon blood now fueling her prized possession, which only then occurred to her she had never bothered to name.
"How about 'demon crusher'?" Rowan offered, the two of them sitting on the deck of the ship, eating dinner near the sailors.
"I plan to crush a lot more than just demons with this baby, so no, it wouldn't do," Argenta countered as she carefully polished the sword with special oils to preserve the metal.
Names seemed a strange thing to give to Argenta, she had never had anything worth naming in her life, not even a pet. Some elves from her generation had had their children already, as per their customs. All elves had one child every thousand years; it was seen as a duty to their race to make sure it continued to grow without overpopulating the land at the same time, given their eternal life.
Taniwha had forgone said "duty" three times already, and while it was not enforced, it was seriously frowned upon by others, to which she had often told them to worry about their own privates and shove them in each other while they were at it.
Her own parents had named her Silver in the ancient tongue, like the glow of the brightest star in the sky they would say, and she liked to think she had shone brightly in her own way. Perhaps her swords deserved such a name, and then memories flashed of her first mission, a long journey to hunt down Dameri raiders that took the better part of a week. A long hunt, the first of many.
"Caza," Argenta whispered in the ancient language of the elves, and the sword seemed to shine slightly more, as if approving of the name.
"What does that mean?" Rowan asked.
"The hunt," Argente replied, satisfied.
"Ah, a good choice then," Rowan nodded. "Naming things after their purpose often makes them better at it, that's why I drew a very sexy buff mermaid on my lute."
"You named your lute after a mermaid?"
"Allora, after the monster that sang a thousand sailors to their death."
"That doesn't sound like your vibe," Argenta pointed out.
"Well, they were exceedingly happy before they died, so, at least for that part it's accurate."
Argenta laughed along with Rowan, and their eyes met for a moment. Rowan shifted uncomfortably, and rubbed the back of his neck while crossing his legs, putting his weight forward, as if trying to hide his...oh.
"Are you feeling well, Rowan?"
"Hmm? Oh yes, quite well."
Argenta couldn't help but notice how he averted his gaze away from hers, or the flushing in his face. His arms hovered awkwardly over his lap, desperately trying to conceal what Argenta knew was growing beyond his control. The poor thing.
"You know," Argenta began casually, "usually men just sort of assert themselves when they want to fuck."
Rowan seemed to tremble from her words as if struck by an invisible whip. "What?"
"You're clearly hard," Argenta said, pointing down at his pants with an amused smile. "And doing a rather poor job of hiding it, if I'm honest."
"I'm not...that is..."
"I don't mind you know, and not just cause I've already seen it."
"A gentleman doesn't impose...I mean, I don't expect you to simply..."
