Meanwhile, in the Wei Kingdom, a beautiful woman named Wei Xing walked alongside her husband, Wei Zheng. They were heading to visit the youngest of the Wei siblings, Wei Chen, who had been taking care of Wei Changze and Wei Cangse Sanren for the past seventeen years. The couple had been in a coma for that long, and it was nothing short of a miracle that Cangse Sanren had been able to give birth to Wei Su during that time.
As they approached the small, secluded manor where Wei Chen resided, Wei Xing's heart pounded with a mix of hope and trepidation. She hadn't seen her brother and sister-in-law conscious in so long, and the burden of taking care of them had weighed heavily on Wei Chen.
"Do you think there's any change?" Wei Xing asked softly, her voice tinged with anxiety.
Wei Zheng squeezed her hand reassuringly. "We'll find out soon. Wei Chen would have sent word if something significant had happened."
They reached the manor and were greeted by Wei Chen, whose face lit up upon seeing them. "Sister, Brother-in-law, it's good to see you."
"How are they?" Wei Xing asked immediately.
"Still the same," Wei Chen replied with a sigh. "But there's been a strange energy in the air recently. I can't quite explain it, but it feels like something is shifting."
As they entered the room where Wei Changze and Cangse Sanren lay, Wei Xing's breath caught in her throat. Despite their long slumber, they looked peaceful, as if they were merely sleeping rather than being trapped in an unending coma.
Wei Su, now a vibrant seventeen-year-old, was seated by his mother's bedside, holding her hand and speaking softly to her. He looked up as they entered, his eyes bright with a mix of hope and determination.
"A-Su, how are you holding up?" Wei Xing asked, her voice gentle.
"I'm fine, Aunt Xing," Wei Su replied, though there was a shadow of worry in his eyes. "I keep talking to her, hoping that one day she'll hear me."
Wei Xing smiled and placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "She will, dear. We mustn't give up hope."
As they settled into the room, an inexplicable warmth began to spread through the air. Wei Chen, who had been attuned to the subtle changes over the years, felt it most acutely.
"Do you feel that?" Wei Chen whispered, his eyes wide with surprise.
Before anyone could respond, a soft glow began to emanate from Cangse Sanren's body. Wei Xing and Wei Zheng exchanged bewildered looks while Wei Su's heart raced with anticipation.
"Mother?" Wei Su's voice trembled as he leaned closer.
The glow intensified, enveloping both Cangse Sanren and Wei Changze. Moments later, their eyes fluttered open simultaneously, as if waking from a long, deep sleep.
"Changze! Cangse!" Wei Xing cried out, rushing to their side.
Wei Changze blinked, his vision focusing on his sister's tear-streaked face. "A-Xing? Is that really you?"
Cangse Sanren, still weak but clearly conscious, turned her head towards her son. "A-Su... my dear a-Su..."
Tears streamed down Wei Su's face as he hugged his mother tightly. "You're awake! You're finally awake!"
Wei Zheng and Wei Chen stood by, overwhelmed with emotion. "This is a miracle," Wei Chen whispered. "But how?"
Wei Changze, still regaining his strength, looked around the room. "It feels like... a great burden has been lifted. Like someone... or something... has intervened."
Cangse Sanren nodded weakly. "Yes... and I can sense a-Ying. He is... safe."
Wei Xing, her heart full of relief and joy, smiled through her tears. "We'll find out soon enough. But for now, let's just be grateful that you're back with us."
As the family embraced and celebrated this unexpected miracle, a sense of hope and renewal filled the room. The bonds of love and kinship, long tested by time and adversity, had proven unbreakable. And with Wei Changze and Cangse Sanren's awakening, the Wei family felt ready to face whatever the future held, united and stronger than ever.
In the quiet, serene landscape of the Cloud Recesses, Lan Zhan, known as Lan Wangji, sat by a flowing stream, playing Inquiry. The guqin's notes floated through the air, filled with longing and sorrow. It had been over five years since Wei Ying had jumped from the cliff, and not once had his love answered his inquiry.
Lan Xichen, also known as Lan Huan, watched helplessly from a distance. The sight of his younger brother, who had always been so stoic and strong, reduced to this state of constant yearning and grief, broke his heart. He wished there was something he could do to ease Lan Wangji's misery.
As the final note of Inquiry echoed through the mountains, Lan Wangji bowed his head, eyes closed in silent despair. The silence that followed was heavy, filled with the weight of unspoken words and unanswered prayers.
"Brother," Lan Xichen said softly as he approached, "perhaps it is time to rest."
Lan Wangji shook his head. "I cannot rest, Xiaozhang. Not until I hear his voice, know that he is safe."
Lan Xichen sighed, sitting beside him. "Wangji, you have been playing Inquiry every day for five years. Young Master Wei would not want you to suffer like this."
Lan Wangji's eyes, usually so clear and resolute, were clouded with pain. "How can I rest when he is lost to me? When I do not know if he is at peace?"
Lan Xichen placed a hand on his brother's shoulder, offering what little comfort he could.
"I understand your pain, but you must also care for yourself. Young Master Wei would want you to live, to find some measure of happiness, even without him."
Lan Zhan didn't answered his brother and continue playing. Lan Xichen left his brother alone and proceed to see his uncle to report about his brother's status. He only wish he can do anything to help his brother.
