As we all sat there in silence, it felt like time stood still. After a while, Piper and Jason excused themselves to have a private conversation. I tried to ignore it, but when they returned, I couldn't help but notice the sadness etched on Jason's face. Without saying a word, he just picked up his bag and left.
Confused, I asked, "What did you tell him?"
Piper looked down and said quietly, "I broke up with him."
The bell signaling the next lesson rang, and Piper suggested, "Do you want to skip? I can't deal with school today."
Nodding in agreement, I gathered my bag and we made our way to Piper's impressive and luxurious house. Once in her room, we turned on the TV and tried to distract ourselves by watching movies. But my mind kept wandering back to Percy. I found myself lost in my favorite memories of him. Suddenly, both of us received a message on our phones from Jason in the group chat. The message was heart-wrenching. It read, "I'm sorry, but I had to do it. By the time you read this, it will be too late, but I just had to do this. I had nothing left; my best friend got killed, and then on the same day, my girlfriend broke up with me. Which was a shit move. I'm sorry, you all were good friends, but goodbye, Jason Grace."
We sat there in shock, not knowing what to say or do next.
