My throat is dry and the inside of my mouth feels as if I have swallowed a desert. I try to lift my head but I am restrained with cold hands rested on my forehead. When I open my eyes I see a desk lamp flickering and a moth that seems to be confused by this. I struggle again, only to find the hands continue to restrain me. Once again I open my eyes, but this time there is a world of colour, I can smell the freshly bloomed daisies and I can feel the sharp grass blades under my feet and poking through my toes. I feel the hands again, but now they are touching my shoulder with warmth and gentleness. They rest their head on my shoulder, and suddenly I am engulfed with the feeling of warmth and serenity. I take a breath to smell the daisies again, but I am stopped with the flow of water filling my lungs and chest. The daisies are gone. The sun is gone. I can feel myself sinking deeper and deeper into this void. My thirst for oxygen is growing larger by the second, a burning sensation starting from my chest is rapidly working its way into the rest of my body, taking over every inch of me. I can feel myself slipping out of conciseness, but then brought back in by my booming heartbeat startling me. I am drowning. I try desperately once again to inhale, failing in my attempt. I whisper can be heard from miles away, and it slowly makes it's way to me. I cannot make out the words clearly. Finger tips are dragged across my face, and the touch brought me back into the first room. "It's time for your medicine." the voice says. Medicine? I ask myself. I start to shake violently until the hand touches me again, soothing me. I open my eyes, and suddenly the hands have a face. A girl with short purple hair and gentle hazel eyes looks at me with concern. She shushes me in hopes to calm me down. "It's going to be okay Lance. Just have your drink." The cup is already half empty, and I seem to be covered in the missing half. I touch the wet spot on my skin, my pupils dilate and I start to scream with blood curdling shrieks. The nurse's eyes widen and she attempts to calm me down again. I read the tag attached to her pure white uniform, it reads: "Alex". I start to scream her name, she desperately tries to hush me with soothing words and with her arms wrapped around me rocking me back and forth. I now just mumble her name until I again fall back into my new reality.
