"Are you sure everything is okay?" Sugawara asked as (Y/N) fixed her hair in the mirror.
The black dress that Suna once gifted her fell over her body, a soft gray sweater placed over it. She seemed frantic, plucking around her face and battling the frizz in her hair. Sugawara eyed her concerningly, noticing how unhinged she seemed.
"I'm okay," she replied softly.
(Y/N) had not been completely honest with Sugawara. When she arrived home last night she had told him Kuroo hadn't given her much detail in his endeavors. As for this morning, (Y/N) said she was meeting Yui at a nearby Cafe for some breakfast. Sugawara believed it briefly, but he knew his fiance wouldn't be this shaky if absolutely nothing had happened.
"You didn't cheat on me did you?" He asked her solemnly.
(Y/N) spun on her heel and looked him dead in the eye. "Why would you even suggest that?" She gasped and walked over to him, placing her left hand on his cheek. The coolness of her engagement silver band on his face calmed him slightly.
"You've been acting weird since you came home last night and when I ask you about what happened you just glaze over it," Sugawara sighed, resting his head on her shoulder.
(Y/N) felt a pang in her heart. The reason she chose to omit the details from Sugawara was because she vowed to make things different this time. In her first go around she thought she watched Sugawara die right in front of her eyes. It would be for the best that he stayed out of things. That way she didn't risk losing him.
"The truth is," (Y/N) paused and lifted his face. "Kuroo was so vague last night I didn't find anything out. I was so upset that my hunch could've been wrong I just didn't want to talk about it anymore."
Sugawara rolled his eyes and pulled her close to his chest. "You always feel like you have to save the world on your own, huh?" He chuckled, rubbing circles in her back. "You have people who love and support you, no matter what. Most importantly you have me, your partner for life."
There was a frog in the girl's throat as he pulled away. She couldn't help but feel guilty lying to him, even if it was to protect him.
"I know, I love you," (Y/N) replied, giving him a quick peck and then running to grab her purse. "I'll be back at around ten!"
Sugawar waved her goodbye as she ran out the door and down the steps. The air outside was still cool, she was grateful she had put on a sweater. As for what possessed her to wear the black dress, she had almost no clue. Perhaps it was the need to be recognized by the guys again, or just merely as a reminder of what happened so she wouldn't get caught up in the glamour like she did last time.
"Yo!" A familiar voice called out from behind.
(Y/N) snapped her head and saw a flash of brown curly hair framing bright eyes and a calm smile.
"It's Hiragumi right?" (Y/N) asked, allowing him to catch up with her.
He grinned and nodded his head. He was significantly taller than her, although most of the boys were. He was wearing scrubs, his full name printed on the chest pocket.
"And you're (Y/N)?" He questioned kindly.
The girl smiled and shook her head, yes, walking slowly beside him. He smelled like pet shampoo and hand sanitizer.
"I'm assuming we're heading to the same place," Hiragumi continued, digging his hand into his pockets.
"If you're meeting that asshole Kuroo, then yes," (Y/N) snickered.
Hiragumi chuckled and glanced down at her. "You're not a huge Kuroo fan huh?" He asked.
She was still undecided on how she felt about Kuroo recently. When all of the dust settled she still cared for him as a friend and tried to keep in contact often. But ever since her gut told her he had been up to something, she couldn't help but feel a bit angry toward him.
