Teaching Beyoncé

Beyoncé hurriedly packed her bag for the day's activity, aware that she was running a bit late.

Just as she was about to rush out of her bunk, the door creaked open, and there stood Onika, a mixture of concern and annoyance on her face.

"Onika!" Beyoncé exclaimed, surprised but secretly warmed by her presence.

Onika crossed her arms, giving Beyoncé a stern look. "You're late," she stated matter-of-factly.

Beyoncé bit her lip, feeling a flutter of nerves mixed with appreciation that Onika cared enough to check on her. "I... I lost track of time," she admitted sheepishly.

Onika sighed, her expression softening slightly. "Just hurry up. We don't want to hold everyone up."

Beyoncé nodded, grateful that Onika didn't press further.

As she gathered her things, she stole a glance at Onika. "Thanks for coming to check on me," she said softly.

Onika shrugged, averting her eyes momentarily. "Yeah, well, we're partners, aren't we?"

Beyoncé smiled, feeling a warmth spread through her. "Yeah, we are."

They walked out of the bunk together, and Beyoncé instinctively stretched her hand out, silently offering it to Onika.

But Onika hesitated, glancing around at the other campers milling about.

Beyoncé's heart sank a little, realizing Onika was reluctant to show any public display of closeness.

She quickly withdrew her hand, trying to hide her disappointment. "Let's go," she said quietly, leading the way towards the day's activity.

Onika fell into step beside her, their shoulders occasionally brushing. Beyoncé stole glances at Onika, noticing the way her hair caught the sunlight, how her eyes sparkled with determination.

Despite Onika's cool exterior, Beyoncé couldn't shake the feeling that there was more beneath the surface. As they approached the activity area, Beyoncé resolved to cherish the moments they shared, even if Onika wasn't ready to show their connection openly.

Beyoncé stood frozen, her heart racing as she stared up at the towering rock face they were supposed to climb that day.

Fear clenched her stomach tightly, her palms growing sweaty. She glanced around, hoping to slip away unnoticed, but before she could make her escape, Onika's firm grip on her shoulders stopped her.

"And where do you think you're going?" Onika's voice was steady but tinged with concern.

Beyoncé swallowed hard, her voice trembling slightly as she explained, "I... I can't do it. I have acrophobia."

Onika's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "Acrophobia? You're afraid of heights?"

Beyoncé nodded, feeling vulnerable admitting her fear.

Onika's expression softened, and she placed a comforting hand on Beyoncé's arm. "Hey, it's okay. You should have said something sooner."

Beyoncé felt a wave of relief at Onika's understanding. "I didn't want to make a big deal out of it," she admitted quietly.

Onika gave her a reassuring smile. "No worries. Come with me."

They walked away from the group towards the cabins. Onika led Beyoncé to her bunk.

"You can wait here while the others climb," Onika suggested, motioning for Beyoncé to sit down on the edge of the bed.

Beyoncé nodded gratefully, sinking down onto the soft mattress. "Thank you, Onika. I appreciate you understanding."
